Kasie West is a brilliant author who crafts fabulous stories and I need her next book as soon as possible.
I've been kind of picking away at this one and I finally just decided life was too short to waste time with this.
The narrator was really annoying, too, so that didn't help at all, but I just found all the characters to be incredibly bland, boring, and I was not invested in anything that was going on at all.
I just expect better from Kasie West, even in her B material and this wasn't even interesting enough to be considered B material.

This book was NOT [a:Kasie West|5027236|Kasie West|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1450586450p2/5027236.jpg] quality. I took out precious seconds of my sleep to read this book and was severely disappointed. I did not like Maddie at all. Or any of the characters for that matter. The story was also dull and the writing felt forced. I didn't feel the romance either. Considering that I waited for this book to come out and was so excited to read it, I was thoroughly disappointed.

So I think it's time for me to maybe stop reading Kasie West books. Or, at least, her contemporary romance ones but I don't think she is about to write out of the genre anytime soon (pivot point remains my absolute fave from her so this saddens me).
It sort of sucks but I really feel like her stories have gone downhill, in my opinion. In this one, the plot stressed me out. Maddie drove me insane and like nobody forced her to see a financial advisor right away? Because an 18 yr old with 30 million means NOT being financially responsible and I was cringing all over the place. Apparently these things stress me out.
Also we did not get enough Seth and their relationship. First "date" was like 80% into the book. The biggest reason I love fluffy fun contemporary romances is the build up and I honestly saw like no chemistry between the two which was a bummer because I feel like Seth was such a great character!! Missed opportunity.

I love Kasie West's other books but this one was extremely cliche with unrealistic characters and a main character who was too stupid to be liked.
Maddie wins the lottery! And then immediately starts wasting her money on stupid things. I got annoyed with her "I have to fix all the broken people!" attitude, especially because she seemed to think money was all she needed to do so. This seemed a little too naive, even for a high schooler.
This was cute fluff. Nothing spectacular. You can rely on Kasie West for inoffensive, unremarkable romances. I'll probably read more from her, just maybe not anytime soon.

The romance was really cute but there were a few things that really bothered me that I felt were not really addressed by the end.

Cute fun read!
What would you do if you won 30 million dollars? How would you spend it? How do you think it would change your life? Those are some questions that this book posed for just turned 18 Maddie who wins the lottery after impulsively buying a lotto ticket on her 18th birthday.
I was a little frustrated with some of the decisions Maddie made when she first got her winnings, especially as she was a little too trusting a a bit of a pushover. However, she does end up learning a lot from her mistakes and even with that, she is never completely irresponsible which I really like.
Her life predictably changes with he huge influx of cash and everyone (even her best friends) treat her differently except for Zoo Seth, the boy she works with at the local zoo. Their relationship is sweet and builds appropriately but it wasn’t quite as compelling for me as the relationship in P.S. I Like You.
Recommend: 13 and up; no swearing; no underage drinking; some impulsive shopping with the influx of cash but nothing too crazy; one character gambles at a casino; some people take advantage of her; some discussions about popularity but no real mean girls; studying hard to earn a scholarship and get into college has high importance; parent’s relationship is rocky but still loving-especially towards kids; romance is sweet with just a few kisses

Don’t be like Maddie if you ever win the lottery. Take the money and run! I liked Seth and Maddie’s relationship though. They were really cute together. I kinda hated everyone else. Even Maddie at some points.
