Omg this book blew me away. I loved every page of it and I love the way it was narrated. I was in tears by the end and I was so so happy for the characters but I just wished some things had happened sooner (I'm trying not to spoil anything). I haven't seen the film yet and reading this book has made me want to watch it as soon as possible!

4,5/5 based on the fact that I hated the style of this book the first few chapters and the switch of style in the epilogue, but other than that, I loved every part of this story.

Frustratingly delicious! I adored the style in which this was written, and I found the swooping from a hand written letter to a typed conversation kept me excited and engaged. Devestatingly frustrating!! The one let down for me was that it ended with a narrative and not a letter.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF at 26%

I want to start this off by saying that I absolutely adore the movie that's based on this, and honestly I wish that the book could've been more similar to it's adaptation, because it was better, in basically every way.

My first major issue is the format. I typically enjoy epistolary stories, but that's when they're done right. I felt so disconnected from every character while reading this, and I just wasn't invested. I also didn't understand them or their motivations, which furthered the gap even more.

And my second major issue is the odd pacing. I feel like certain parts of their lives were glossed over, and others were dragging on (and this was just in the first 25ish percent!). Every time we skipped forward in time I felt like I had to reorient myself, because it's always abrupt with little to no indicator.

And my last issue, is the ending. While trying to decide if I should continue a book that wasn't working for me, I ended up seeing a spoiler for what happens. And let me just say that I think it's bullshit. Making the characters wait to get together until they're 50 years old?!?!?! Absolute insanity and just really stupid.

So yeah, not gonna finish this. But I do recommend the movie highly.

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book, purely because of the way it was written. I found myself getting lost between the letters/emails/ages of characters and was worried i would lose focus throughout the entire book.

But then it got better. I must say, I disagree with some of the reviews, saying the pacing was quite slow. Whilst I’d have preferred (spoiler alert) Alex and Rosie to get together sooner; life doesn’t always pan out that way. And I feel as though the pacing of this book matched that.

I enjoyed all of the characters (particularly Ruby!) and despised all of the ones I was meant to hate (whatshisname). I also cried when Rosie’s parents died because I knew it was coming but also didn’t want it to.

I have yet to watch the movie but I’m very excited too! And it’s not because it has Sam Claflin and Lily Collins in... okay it definitely is!

this book just makes me happy. Every time I need to get up the mood I read it. It is very quick to read and I can't stop laughing with every thing that happens to the protagonists.

Me da pena unu
