This book was slow at the beginning but became much more engaging as I read on. I learned a lot and it really changed my perspective on the world and how racial and caste bias have influenced not just our culture but also the modern day economy, and stem as the basis of many social, economic, and political issues we deal with today. Would recommend to anyone.

There were some informative sections, but ultimate this felt very much like slow, dull political propaganda…not for me

Worthy topic. A bit repetitive and light on speculative solution.

Very good, well written and important read. Not great timing for me to be reading something this harrowing.

An incredible, difficult, and necessary read.

Wilkerson makes a compelling argument that racism in America is a manifestation of caste, then dissects how caste exists and gets perpetuated.

The concepts build on each other very well. The examples are plentiful and varied. The comparison to other caste systems provides a deeper context, too.

The book did leave me wondering why caste systems are so imbedded in humanity to begin with, but that’s probably a topic for another book.

Also, trigger warning for pretty much every form of violence/racism.
