funny hopeful reflective fast-paced

This man is on something else. His stuff is like the most realistic fantasy I've ever written. All his books so far are about people who are supposedly down on their luck, scraping by, always a step behind... yet flush with cash and catching lucky breaks at every turn. Dammit if it's not compelling, though. (The narrator for the audiobook is excellent.)

Bittersweet and lovely.

Set in 1938, this has some of the sparkle of the Great Gatsby but is centered around women who are a bit more real and weathered than Daisy Buchanan. If you enjoy funny people in their 20s figuring stuff out, this is a book for you. Looming in the background is the Great Depression and threats of World War, but mostly it's a book about memory and friendship.

I adored this book. I am sure I will pick it up again sometime and reread my favorite parts. The author does a masterful job setting every scene and distinguishing every character. So well done.

Nice lil reflection of love and life and wealth and how none of it really matters
