Super cute, more of a female friendship book than romance, though. Easy and fun read, but didn't really stand out for me.

1.5*, unfortunately. This is one more book that would have been a whole lot better without the romantic plotline - why do authors keep trying to stick it where it very clearly doesn't belong??? In this case, however, this unfortunate trait is not the worst of it.
I don't know whether it's due to the divided attention between the barely-there romance and everything else, but the result is that everything here seems superficial and stretched too thin. I started off wanting to care and came away not believing a word of it. I think the problem might be that the author never bothered to come up with realistic causes and effects - everything just happens as if in a vacuum and everyone is the way they are just because the author said so, but when we get glimpses into the characters' backstories or current circumstances - none of it makes sense.

Looking for a lighthearted rom/com style book? Here it is. It has a bit of the Miss Congeniality feel to it but with a different storyline. Story of girl love with a small bit of of romance and a lot drama. I enjoyed it!

Updated: I DNFed about halfway through however the friendship aspect was nagging at me. So I picked it back up again and finished it. The book is better when read as the friendship between Maise and Willa instead of the romance. Still not my favorite read but tolerable

The Wedding Ringer was a fun read with lots of laughs. The story focuses on Willa, who is going through a rough time and finds herself taking a job as a hired bridesmaid for Maisie. Of course we get to see Willa’s personal growth through her experiences and I’d say this book is more of a women’s fiction story with the romance being a subplot. Maisie is a great character and I enjoyed reading about her and discovering her backstory as the layers slowly peeled back. The closed door romance is cute and added to the fun HEA ending. There is a really strong theme of friendship and family that I appreciated. I enjoyed this one and found myself smiling and laughing while reading/listening. If you need a feel-good story, I recommend picking up The Wedding Ringer.

Audiobook | Definitely entertaining but also full of cheese, both literally (bc this book seemed to constantly be talking about food, mostly when totally irrelevant, and in an amount of detail that was annoying) and figuratively. Honestly I’m just butt hurt over the carelessness of having to read about the vegetarian character eating beef brisket tacos, but whatever
