Could have been an easy 3 stars if the book that's trying to tackle misogyny in the workplace wasnt so misogynistic and sexist itself.

I also wish drama with the ex girlfriend didn't last so long it was too ott and pointless.

The characters were okay , Luce was very lovely and career driven yet betrayed and deceived by everyone to ruin her career , i wish she had a bit more backbone and didn't take sebastian back so fast , but overall she was pretty relatable.

Sebastian was meh , i didn't hate him but didnt love him either. He was very 2 demensional and literally like any other grumpy billionaire male character.
I hated how he thought it'd be okay to fuck with a woman's career and plot a prank with his brothers like school boys to take down her CEO position it was very sexist .

the only reason he regretted it was because he loved her if it was another woman he didnt care for he wouldnt have fixed it .

His brothers were so childish and immature

He took away her CEO position as petty
revenge and didn't even grovel and she just took him back because he got the cringiest tattoo for her .

Her friend Bianca betrayed her and so sebastian ruined her life by suing her and blacklisting her , but he also betrayed Luce and he was very easily forgiven . What's with the double standard ?

This was mid very predictable and again the man did very little to earn forgiveness no one has a backbone in these books. Also feel like there’s some plot holes relating to some of the other couples. It was a cute book but I don’t feel like they had any deep connection or anything it didn’t buy them developing feeling or really knowing one another

Never not gonna love an arranged marriage or marriage of convenience! And one with angst and asshole family but really cute interactions with great family and some great romance and MY WIFE thrown around like 500 times a day is the best!

"You are the moon in the night sky. I'm just putting a few stars around you so you can shine even brighter."

Alright, this is another bookstagram trap I fell easily into and do not regret. I mean, come on. Age-gap? Marriage of convenience? forced proximity? Angst? Drama? GROVELLING? Hell yeh.

Poor Lucienne has been screwed over her whole life. One day when she was 14, she met an attractive older guy who left a lasting impression on her. Later on, she goes on to marry the same guy to get more control in her life. He does not remember her, not yet anyway. Though Sebastian was not happy with this development as he was forced into it by his family. But they have instant chemistry, though that did not stop him from going forward with his revenge plan. By the time he realizes his mistake, it's too late and it drives a gap between them. He does win her back, obviously.

At times, as much as their chemistry was strong, I just felt like we could've seen more development in that department. AND I am also so mad we did not get to see Luce's half-sister being destroyed
Spoilerjust like Bianca.
I hate that girl with a passion, just as much as the other girl.

The groveling could have been a teeny tiny bit more. But you can't tell me that if you see someone with
"EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OF LUCIENNE PERRY.
TRESPASSERS WILL BE REMOVED WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE"

tattooed on their chest, you won't immediately forgive them. And all those flowers he sent while taking great care of their meaning? Gosh, I loved those cute and grand gestures.

And let's not forget, MAN CRAWLED ON HIS KNEES FOR HER. That was the highlight of the book ngl. Though not in the top 10, Sebastion Lasker definitely falls into the top 20 book boyfriends. (It's only coz the top 10 is reserved for extremely unhinged book bf's

Contractually Yours really reminded me of the King of Sin series by Ana Huang. Specifically, King of Wrath.

I love a good marriage of convenience trope so I was all in. There were definitely parts of the book that I loved and other decisions not so much. There were specific characters like Bianca that could have been better developed. Her storyline seemed a bit predictable and rushed. Also, the beginning flashback scene of Luce and Sebastian meeting when she’s 14 and he’s 23, really threw me off. I knew the author was going interweave it into the story but it just made me feel icky reading it.

I love how strong Luce becomes throughout the book. Through poor treatment and resilience, you start to see a confidence bloom that wasn’t there before. Sebastian was a little too hot and cold for me personally. Again, I wish the characters were a bit more flushed out.

All in all, it was a quick and easy read. I used it as a palette cleanser between books!
