I love when books pull you in right away and from the first few words, you are hooked. That is this book. The characters will also draw you in. Tracey and Nixon have a rocky start in the beginning. over time they end up falling in love but there will be optical in their way throughout the book. also, there is someone trying to kill Tracey. Tracey will also find out a big secret as well. All of this equals a book that you will not be able to put down. I can't wait to read the next one.

It was good and it had me hooked from the beginning..but it wasn't really believable or something I see happening in real life. Which didn't necessarily bother me, because once I realized what the book's about I just kind of went with it. :)

The biggest issue I have with the book is the love triangle forming towards the end of the book. I love Nixon and Tracey together, even more so after she remembered things from the past. I like Chase as a character also, but I just don't understand why the author felt the need to include a love triangle, because it all felt a bit forced to me. Tracey loved Nixon and the whole book was about their relationship, then all of a sudden she missed Chaces arms aroung her etc.?! Ahhh..
After reading the prologue of the sequel I'm assuming the love triangle will be a big part of the book, so I'm still not sure if I will read the sequel or not.

I should've read this years ago!

This was a fantastic read!
I'm obsessed with the mafia and the mob. I was excited to read this series because I've heard so many awesome things about it. They're all true! Believe the hype y'all!

I felt really uncomfortable reading Elite by Rachel Van Dyken. I just didn't get it, I don't think. This is supposed to be a book told with a university setting and it didn't feel as though it was. I didn't get the thing about key cards and lunch rooms and specific uniforms like they're all still in a private high school. I didn't fully believe that university students could be this mean and heartless and produce such a bullying and horrific atmosphere without any consequences. It's like they were all living in a bubble in this bizarre alternate reality in which a 20 year old boy runs the show. I read this book and I was baffled by it all. And instead of revulsion, our main character feels nothing but attraction to the guy. (FYI, it is supposedly 'explained' why the school is run as it is, but I can't suspend my disbelief that much, I'm afraid.)

I rated this book three stars because for whatever reason, I finished the book and in a relatively short amount of time. That has to count for something.

So I'm a little embarrassed to say I liked this book. The characters were so immature at times. The writing was also not that great. The heroine was slightly annoying. I think she cried for 80% of the book. However I loved the premise of this story and it was fun to read. The mafia involvement and hints of a love triangle have definitely peaked my interest. So while I did not LOVE this book, I think there is potential with this series. I have a feeling this series will get better. So I'm on going on to book 2.

Originally given 4.5 hearts at Rookie Romance.

Oh wow. I've seen this book and this series around, but it sort of bypassed me until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to read the first book and it has totally blown me away. I'm almost happy that I've waited so long because now I have a bunch of books to gorge myself on!

Tracey Rooks is lucky enough to win a nationwide lottery to attend Eagle Elite University, which means she'll be pretty set for life after. Trace is worried about leaving her Grandpa by himself on their farm, but excited for the opportunity. It's fairly clear that she's in a little over her head when she arrives and the students mock her and belittle her. I was so impressed with Trace and her strength and determination. She tries not to let them see her cry and she fights back. I thought Trace was such a perfect main character because she's a normal, down to earth girl and it's very clear that the students at Eagle Elite are not your average college students, so you're right there with her trying to figure it all out.

Nixon is basically head of the Elect- the elite group of students who pretty much run the school. What he says goes. I loved that he's young, but so confident and self-assured, although unfortunately it all comes at a cost. Nixon has to avoid any weaknesses, and his growing feelings for Trace definitely become a vulnerability.

I loved Trace and Nixon together. Even when they're fighting and arguing, there's still that undertow of attraction which drags them toward each other. Nixon tries to push Trace away but somehow she gets under his skin and he can't just ignore her. By the time Nixon and Trace give in to that attraction, I was positively thrilled, As their relationship grew, I thought Nixon was just so sweet with Trace.

I'll admit that after reading reviews of this before picking it up I was worried that the idea of the students being so in control and having so much power would be a little unbelievable, bearing in mind they're all around 18-21 years old. But it's not something I really thought much about, the characters are so convincing that this unrealistic situation seems perfectly believable.
The rest of the characters also play quite important parts in the story and I'm looking forward to seeing their stories further along in the series. The intense and fast moving plot combined with a Romeo and Juliet-esque romance is just addicting. This book has everything you need to keep you absolutely glued to the pages and is a very intriguing start to the series.
Now, excuse me whilst I go read Elect...

*I received a review copy from the publisher, via NetGalley, for my honest review. Thank you!

Wow. Ce livre regroupe juste tout ce que je ne supporte pas dans le NA. Et plus encore. Le héros, déjà : What. A. Control. Freak. Jackass.

"We are untouchable. If you as much as sneeze in our direction, if you as much breathe the same air in my atmosphere, I will make our life hell."

OK. SURE.
