“I would have kissed you harder. I would have fought for you more. I don’t know. I would have stolen you away, taken your virtue, made myself so permanently etched on your person that every time you took a breath it was my scent that was permeating the air.” – Nixon

If you are looking for a quick, easy summer read – this book is for you. The story line was different from any I’ve read so far, which was part of the reason I enjoyed it and is why I’m not going to go into too much description. What I will say is that the book hooked me early and I found myself squeezing in “read time” just to see what was going to happen next – as it seemed there was always something going on. Although there were quite a few situations that were hard to believe or a bit cliché, I found this book very entertaining. The characters were interesting and likeable and it was easy to care about them.

Some of the references the author used target a fairly young audience. However, outside of those few instances, I found the author’s writing style enjoyable to read as it was clear, quick-paced, and interjected humor. In fact, after completing this book, I started on “The Bet”, also written by this author.

I am looking forward to reading Eagle Elite – Book 2!

*SPOILER ALERT*

Bienvenidos a Eagle Elite.

30% into this book all I could think was, "what the hell am I reading? I mean seriously this is all so way over the top and a bit ridiculous."
50% in I. Can't. Stop. Reading. It's all still a little over the top but I need to know whats going on. I love Nixon, I think Nixon is an ass, I'm kind of swooning over Chase but I'm cheering for Nixon too. I was all over the place!!
I can't find an explanation for why I enjoyed this book other than it kept me guessing. I'm not usually a fan of mafia type stories or stories that seem a little too outrageous but I think I enjoyed exactly those two things the most about this book.
The way that it ended got me pretty interested in waiting for the next book in the series then they threw in a teaser and now I KNOW I'll be reading the next one.

I have had this series on my queue for a while, and it kept getting pushed down. I decided to break it out and give it read. I have enjoyed Rachel Van Dyken's other books, and this is one of her most popular series so I was excited going in.

I guess I always thought that this was a badass mafia series. Which, I guess maybe it becomes that... In book 1, these kids are in College (18-21). Can the Mafia be in college running the world?
Eh... not a believer, nor am I a fan of NA so that threw me off. I am in my 50s and I just don't enjoy reading about 18 year olds. Not to mention, 18-21 year olds that apparently run the city. I just can't. It's not the story it's me. I can see the appeal to others, as a matter of fact I recommended it to my son's girlfriend (who is 25), but for me this is a big ole "nope".

This is kinda bully, kinda of suspense, kinda of a lot of things with the potential for mafia down the road. Aside from the NA aspect, I didn't really care for Tracey the heroine. She cries ALL THE TIME. I have a 23 year old daughter, I know girls get upset but damn. There is was a lot of crying.

This book will have a appeal to many others, just not me. I couldn't suspend belief for this one and the heroine wasn't my fave. I won't keep reading but that doesn't mean it isn't your cuppa tea.

1 1/2 to 2 stars.

So, I finished this today...I liked it...I will have to review it in two sections though...the technical, and the emotional. I'm trying not to be spoilery with my review...

For technical (and I don't mean grammatical errors, I mean...plot, things flowing nicely and making sense), the rating is probably closer to a 3. There were things that were...well...a little far-fetched, but I don't mean in the bad sense...I am all for a world different than ours and if it is written well enough, I can buy into anything, but there were times when I didn't know whether it was an unintentional error that our Trace was so naive and confused or if her grandparents were in fact that awful...and I get it, I do...I understand the motivations, but when you have basically brought this girl up to be the most ill equipped child ever and throw her literally into the middle of the damn Godfather, I was like...what? And maybe the next one will explain some things--maybe they're more complicated than I though because there were times when I didn't really see what the problem was, I was like, just start whacking people and then, voila! Problem solved. But whatever.

Okay, now to my emotional review...4 stars! I was sucked in immediately. I felt for Trace, even when I was face palming (frozen yogurt? Really?). I hurt for her and was embarrassed for her and pissed for her, and I spent a small portion of the book plotting revenge against the mean girls ( and guys.) I think that's a sign of a good book, that I care about what happens, that I can feel it. I am not sure about Nixon, honestly...if I was Trace...well, I won't go there. I'm not spoiling! I will say...I want a Chase! Please, where oh where can I find one?!

Overall, I recommend it. I'll definitely be reading the next one!

As I was thinking about this book, I realized that this is one of those books that would definitely benefit from dual pov's...I think that would have made things much...smoother.

Not sure if I like it yet...

Not sure if I like it yet. The girl is a little shallow, character wise. Not much substance. She's bullied, drugged and put in a compromising situation and the guy doesn't really say anything about it, and all is forgiven because he's finally semi nice...then the book ends. Wondering if I purchase the next one to see if it gets better.

This was soooo silly and ridiculous... But it's Rachel Van D! And for some reason, her stories always make me laugh out loud either Bc they are hilarious or they are so far put the box !!! Quick weird read ! The covers are stupidddddd!

Love it! it got to my heart and got me all hot and bothered in a good way. 5 Stars and I can't say more because I need to continue reading.... I want more!
