I found that I enjoyed the idea of the story of this book, but did not find that it was written very well.

It would have gotten only 2 stars in my opinion had it not been for the idea of the story. I also was not that happy with the ending.

From the moment I started Fracture I was hooked straight away. Delaney "died" but somehow managed to survive but now something strange is going on. The only person who who has an idea of what is happening is Troy, but can he be trusted.

I love Decker, he is always there for Delaney, and even through the rough patch in their friendship he still goes running to help. I felt sorry for Delaney when she felt like everyone was against her, her parents, her friends, Decker, and the only person she can turn to is Troy who isn't exactly the model citizen he makes out to be.

I loved the idea behind Fracture, even more so with the strange things happening with Delaney. I have not read a book with this type of plot and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I liked the ability that Delaney has, and although nothing can be done for others, Delaney tries to make things right. I still don't know if it is a miracle, freak of nature or something more frightening, but I know I would not like her ability myself.

Megan has managed to write an amazing book that people of all ages will enjoy. Fracture kept me captivated and wanting to find out what would happen next.
I read Fracture in one sitting, and took about two hours to read, I could not put it down.
Megan is one author who I look forward to reading more from.

It was a very interesting book though I couldn't help but try to rush read as it didn't completely suck me in. It was one of those books that describes something such as the world or disease yet nothing that interesting happens. I loved the relationship Delani had with Decker. But I wasn't exactly pleased with Troy killing himself. Then theres Delani's friends turning on her because she didn't save Carson. I mean what could she do.

Absolutely loved the book, the way the characters were developed, and the amount of emotion included.

I remembered Fracture being all over the blogosphere back before I really took an interest in young adult. I picked up a copy after reading Hysteria, and both books do a similar thing; they tread along a line of explainable and supernatural, leaving you not too sure which it is all the way through the story. Hysteria does the better job of this and it’s good to see Megan Miranda improving. What it does mean is I think I would have enjoyed Fracture more if I had read it first.

There’s some fantastic passages and pieces of writing throughout the pages, but it’s the glue that holds them together that needs work. The pace slowed in the middle and it lost a lot of the tension it needed (but does return in the final chapters). Troy’s character wasn’t very well developed. He appears out of nowhere and has an interesting story. He should be tragic, we should feel conflicted about him, but at the end I was just meh about his fate. The male best friend plot is a bit predictable too.

Good things? The medical side felt reasonably believable and wasn’t skimmed over. Although would doctors really discuss their patients in earshot all the time? I could understand it more when she was in a coma, but conscious? Delaney ponders what makes her human, what kept her brain going when it shouldn’t have. Her relationship with her mother becomes fraught. Her mother thought she had lost a daughter once and then is faced with the horror of losing her to something else, perhaps the brain damage has irreparably taken Delaney away. Glimpses into her background show that there’s more than one way to be trapped.

And that feeling of being trapped is central to the story. First she is trapped under the ice, then by the coma. She is strapped down to stop herself harming others, but when she is free she feels trapped by her parents, by the drugs she is supposed to take. She hates the idea of there being something wrong with her that will return her to a hospital bed, unable to move or make her own choices.

“I don’t know wheatear you’re acting like this because you know I’m going to kiss you and you’re nervous or you know I’m going to kiss you and you don’t want me to.” ~Troy

Fracture by Megan Miranda is the first debut I have read in 2012, and what an amazing debut it was!

Delany has been under water for 11 minutes already by the time Decker pulls her out…she should’ve died, but instead she wakes up after being in a coma for 6 days, no brain damage, she is walking and talking just fine, but something changed in Delany..she is started to sense things, and this new found sense is going to change her life forever.

Megan’s writing and the way she captures everything literally took my breath away, I could really feel and see everything that Delany was perfectly. Megan is one of the best writers I have ever seen (read?) she is incredibly detailed, but never did I notice she was overly detailed, her words flowed amazingly, I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t believe I was already finished with it. The pages flowed that well! You just can’t help but keep turning the pages, every time I thought of taking a break my mind would scream at me “NO you must keep going! You can’t stop here!” This is writing at its finest people!

Along with Fracture being an amazing read due to Megan’s writing, it also had an amazing storyline. I personally have not read a book like this one and I found it insanely creative and captivating, I loved the idea. A girl falls into the ice, and 11 yeah you heard me right, ELEVEN minutes later is pulled out by her best friend Decker, she should be dead! Instead though she feels fine, except when she starts feeling the pull and the itch inside of her…then she feels anything but fine. This whole story was amazing from beginning to end.

Now about the characters, I loved them. Delany is so caring; you couldn’t help but love her and feel sorry for her! She goes through so many tough moments in her life, but she always stayed strong and tried to keep herself together, she was truly an inspiring character. Decker I adored, he is so sweet and such a great friend to Delany, I am so glad things ended the way they did for him and Delany. Then there was Troy…poor poor Troy, he was a character at first I didn’t know what to think of, I wasn’t sure if he was the good guy or the bad guy, and even now I don’t know what to think of him, I was confused by him at first, then I realized he was very mysterious and it was kind of hot, so I liked him! Then some things changed so I wasn’t sure about him, I think in the end he was a good guy, that just lost his mind. Those I believe were the three main characters and I loved each of them, the rest of the characters were also just as enjoyable (besides Tara, yuk!)

Overall Megan’s flawless writing, inspiring characters, and amazing storyline really made this a must read for anyone that well, loves to read! It is a YA novel, but it could easily be enjoyed by people that don’t normally read YA (it’s not your typical YA). Although I truly loved this book, I was upset about how something’s went, and I also believe if it were made into a series it would be even more amazing (maybe it will someday? Who knows!) None of the less though, Megan is an author that everyone needs to watch, she is an incredible writer and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next cause I already know it will be phenomenal.
