Just reread a little bit of this. The whole premise of this series is a lot of controlling men, but this is a bit too much.

SPOILERS

Forced conversion, kidnapping, brainwashing, using a younger sibling/child as a hostage, 'man of the house' stylings on the part of a 6 year old.... it just went way too far with the weak woman stylings. I had to set it aside, and I don't know if I'll be able to pick up another book of this series ever again. Some of her series have some pretty strong, kick-ass heroines, but in this one I see no way to redeem the male character. I don't remember the rest of the series, but if this were the first Feehan I'd read, this would be the last I'd read.

The third book in the Ms. Feehan’s Dark Series, this one tells of Aiden and Alexandria’s journey.

There story was significantly different than the earlier two. Alex and her young brother, Joshua, were taken by a vampire. They were certain that they would die until Aiden, in all his golden glory, showed up and slaughtered the beast.

Unfortunately, seeing Alex attempting to protect her brother, he assumed that she was a vampiress attempting to kill a child so he attacked and found himself a life mate.

Alex’s condition was awful and she looked horrible, but once Aiden realized what she was to him, hideous or not, he planned to make her his. It wasn’t until she was cleansed to vampire blood, went through hell and finally slept that he realized she was stunningly beautiful.

Their relationship was brutal. The earlier books had resistance from the women, but they soon came around. It took Aiden most of the book to get laid. Alex was not having him. She had a hard time accepting what she had become and the changes that it brought to her life. Poor Aiden had purple balls by the time he got some!

What made this book fabulous was Stefan and Marie and the family that Aiden built. I loved those two. They accepted and loved Aiden, because of what he is and what he did, and accepted Alex because she was his life mate. Even though she was not the nicest person at first. Joshua, the loved wholeheartedly. He was a great kid.

Glad I finally decided to delve into this series and I can highly recommend it.

Again, the understory is interesting, once you get past all the "white, hot heat" and "dark velvet seduction" that everything is.

I enjoyed this book more than I really should. Terrible, but unputdownable at the same time.

The female protagonist was quite annoying, while once again the male was ridiculously charming. We don't care about your little brother, focus on the couple, people!

I was looking forward to this one because I was interested in Aidan's story but I ended up hating Alexandria too much to really enjoy it. She seriously got on my nerves nearly every page.

This is the end of the Dark series for me personally. When I fist read Dark Prince I found it a middle of the road book. I did enjoy certain aspects of the book, I did have fundemental problems with the novel. I found the males controlling and the woman had no agency. Plus there also the questionable consent. After reading the 2nd and 3rd novel in the series my questionable issues have been added to by anoyancies that have ruined the series. I can't stand that every characters male of female is a carbon copy of the first set in Dark Prince. And then you have the same lines to describe everything like "dark velvet magic". Then this couple had to be the most frustrating outta the three I've read, because you had a female who was so frustrating and stuborn and unwilling to even see logic when she had the profe for herself. And a male who couldn't be more stupid, chest thumping male ego. And there was no respect for her saying no to sex and he turned everything into a reason to sex. Esspecially emotionally trematic events. And it made me role my eyes and get sick of this book and series as a whole. I'm done with this series, and only read this far wanting to get to Gregori story and I can't be bothered now.
