It is quite interesting to see the vast changes that have come upon Mira. Her entire goal, her purpose in her everlasting life, is constantly being altered. She is not her own person and is constantly being manipulated by all around her; Both of her knowledge and without her awareness. She appears to be the ultimate pawn, but yet she still retains an immense amount of control over her life and protects those who seek her protection.

It is amazing to see one who is so strong struggle at almost every turn. Truly, it is her against the world. She seems to have no true allies; many can control her completely and hold her fate in their hands. The only thing saving Mira from eternal rest is that she is the ultimate weapon against the supernatural's greatest enemy; the Naturi. How she is to go about ending their existence is yet to be discovered, but I very much anticipate seeing Mira prevail against the Naturi, as well as those who would try to control her destiny when it is her path alone to chose.

I so hope that Mira may find the internal power to overcome those who use her and to find a balance within herself to fully except her potential and greatness as an eternal being. I know Mira can kick major butt and I am eager to see when all else come to realize it as well. She can do anything she sets her mind to, she simply needs to find the courage and confidence in herself to do so.

I am also mildly surprised to find that I rather enjoy that these past two books of the 'Dark Days' novels have had no obvious (or even subtly mentioned) love interests. There is no love triangle, square, or even pair. Heck, there was only one sex scene and it wasn't even with the man who has grudgingly stood by her side for two whole books. It was also no-strings-attached.

I have to say, it was quite refreshing, and it helped to keep focus on the action rather than on Mira's love life. It is such a disappointment when a book gets completely sucked into, and revolves around, the main character's freaking love life. It also often leads to a half-assed ending that is all about a main character's HEA with the man that they are 'Oh so in LOVE with!' What a waste that is. Then again, there is still plenty of time for Mira to find her completely sappy and clichéd HEA with four more books to go.

Here's to hoping the ending and the rest of Mira's journey to the end doesn't suck and is just as fantastic as have been the first two books in Ms. Drake's 'Dark Days' series!

Go forth and conquer, Mira!! <3

I'm getting tired of the whole control thing. Come on already--break it.

I was really surprised I liked [b:Nightwalker|2424168|Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1)|Jocelynn Drake|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1307601900s/2424168.jpg|2431355] as much as I did, but when I finished I couldn't wait to continue reading the series. Dayhunter picks up right where Nightwalker left off. Mira, Danaus, Tristan, etc. have just finished fighting the Naturi in London and now they are being summond to Venice to the Coven. Mira knows that nothing good will come of this trip. Besides the threat of the Naturi opening the seal, Mira is pretty sure multiple Coven members want her dead. When she gets to Venice, Mira finds herself being pulled in all different directions and doesn't know which side to choose.

So far, with just the first two books, this series has been a lesson in deception. It's very difficult for Mira, and the readers, to know who to trust. Probably done on purpose by Jocelynn Drake, this tactic forces both the readers and Mira to depend / trust Danaus. These two started out as enemies, but you can see through their interactions they are starting to soften towards one another more. The misconceptions they each had about the other are being proven not quite as true as they thought and I enjoy reading this realization come to light.

While things are not over between the Nightwalkers and the Naturi, there is definitely more closure at the end of this book than the first. I am very interested to see where our characters are taken in the next book [b:Dawnbreaker|6289935|Dawnbreaker (Dark Days, #3)|Jocelynn Drake|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349566314s/6289935.jpg|6474292]. I'm really happy I started this book with the entire series complete. I would definitely recommend reading the first book in the series before picking this one up. There's just to much that blurs over from that first book into this book.

An enjoyable urban fantasy. I do have a preference for a little more romance in my books but they was great action and mystery to pull the story along. Great build on the overarching story line and great lead up to the next in the series. Mira is almost an island unto herself, there is treachery every where she goes. Even though she is not an elder she has to keep so many various politics and strategies in the forefront of her mind so that she’s able to make it through the minefields of her world. She almost has no idea who to trust because almost everyone has a reason to kill her.

Mira and Danaus now to to Venice to get help in their mission from Mira's rulers but the journey has been full of danger and enemy attacks. It is clear that everyone on the council has their own agenda and way of tackling the enemy so who can actually be trusted?
This book was a disappointing follow up. There were too many new characters being brought in, each with a plan for what they wanted Mira to do and all these interweaving plans, counter-plans and betrayals started to confuse me. I was having trouble remembering who wanted what and who was allies with who and who was betraying who-plus we still had the continuing fights with Mira and Danaus over their trust issues and lifestyles which has now gone beyond boring! More good action scenes but not enough to save the book. I have lost interest in the series now.

I tried to like this one. I really did, but despite being very promising, it still didn't go over mediocre for my standards. Maybe I'm not really into Mira or perhaps it's just her connections with other people that don't come across right for me... I'll need to come back to this series and see if the next book may improve my opinion.

I am two books into this series and already in love. I just can't get enough of these UF/PNR meshes. This book has a UF feel with enough of the sensual not to be a tease. I love the characters, the drama, and the plot of this book....so basically everything.
I think Mira is pretty bad ass as well as Danaus. We find out what he is in this book and I get kind of angry because he is (not going to tell you) something that everyone she be shunning, not him getting to shun everyone else. I also got mad about half way through the book when he did something that just wasn't kosher, with Mira or with me. I was totally feeling the same thing that Mira was feeling as I was reading. This author has that ability, so watch out.
There is also a scene towards the end that is a little like, wtf? I get why it's there but I also am thinking the author needed to throw some smex in there. I listed the few things that pinched my nerves but that doesn't mean I don't adore this book. They already set it up for the next book and I can't wait to see what will happen in Mira's world next.

I love this series by Jocelynn Drake and as I am about to start the 3rd, I can only hope that she continues on with it!
I absolutely love the main character, Mira. I like how Drake is revealing more and more about her past. Danaus gets more mysterious as the books go along so I am anxious to learn more about him although we are let in on a little secret :)
This book starts off exactly where the last book left off and continues on the journey to destroy the naturi before they destroy everyone!
Its a must read!
