You ever read a thriller so chilling you don't know what to say? We'll anyway that's me right now.

I knew I was going to love this book from page one. I loved the first book in this installment and I was quite excited for a sequel because I loved our inspectors, Mia Kruger and Holmer Munch, their dynamic and the rest of their team as well. I love when crime and thriller books have scenes from the detective's lives and scenes that are not connected to the investigation.

The plot was chilling and very interesting from start to finish. It sucks you right into the story and you can't stop turning pages until the very end. Which is exactly what I look for in a thriller.

However, there are some things I'm not quite happy with. I love when the bad guy isn't obvious and when the author "offers" you possible bad guy but in the end it end up being someone else. That's awesome because it's a plot twist, and let's be real crime/thriller needs those. What I don't like is when the bad guy ends up being someone we literally saw two times and doesn't have any sort of a role in the story itself. It's just some random guy. I don't like that. Yes, it's a plot twist, but a very bad one. It feels as if author himself didn't know who to blame so he just pulled out a random character. To me a bad guy has to have a role, impact and be somewhat important in the whole story.

All in all, I do recommend this book if you're into thriller novels and I definently recommend you to check out the first book in this installment.

i‘m not the biggest fan of thriller but this one is super catchy and i couldn’t stop reading it!

Book two in the Nordic noir series following detectives Holger Munch & Mia Krueger in a race against time to find a sadistic killer. After reading the first book in the series, I was super excited to get into the second, and it didn’t disappoint! There’s a significant creep factor to the dark cases these detectives are up against, and the writing style is fast paced and entertaining from start to finish. Can’t wait to read book three!

Iets minder sterk verhaal dan het eerste deel. Maar nog steeds bloedstollend spannend...

The Owl Always Hunts at Night is the second book in this Nordic Noir series that follows detectives Holger Munch and Mia Kruger. When a young woman is found dead in the woods, everyone is shocked by the unusual scene in which she was found.

This book was very dark and atmospheric. One of the things I loved about how this book was written, was the beginning story about two young kids, and then spending the rest of the book trying to determine how that storyline fits with the current storyline and who the murderer is. It helped to keep me intrigued throughout the book.

I liked the first book in the series, I’m Traveling Alone, better. The owl and feather aspect was a bit strange to me. But, overall, I enjoyed the book and I like Munch and Kruger as the main characters. There is a third and final book in the series that I definitely want to pick up soon!

A follow up to I'm Travelling Alone featuring the same detective characters and I enjoyed it! This time, the case involves the strange murder of a teenager found on a bed of feathers. I thought the story is cleverly plotted with red herrings and unexpected discoveries! I really didn’t see the ending coming. The author has a great way of making everyone feel human - even his villains despite the awful things they do. Mia and Holger’s relationship continues to be an important anchor and I can’t wait to read more about them. Definitely give this a try if you’re into Nordic noir but take note it is dark and disturbing!

CW: physical abuse, child neglect, suicide attempts, animal deaths and mistreatment of a person with mental illness.
