Um, not my fav. Moved super fast, I wish there was like a past and present story line then maybe their love make more sense.

I loved this book. Lee has a lot of convincing to do to make Shayna believe that they have a real shot at a second chance for a HEA. This is an easy ready without a lot of angst which I love!

(I received an ARC for this book)

Before you start this, I recommend reading the series prequel novella, False Start. While it’s not necessary, it’s Lee and Shayna’s first chance. That’s where I connected with these characters, where I instantly needed more of their story. This takes place eight years later. Their first chance left Lee full of regret, and Shayna carrying a grudge. So what happens when she takes a job as an athletic trainer on his football team? Well, the groveling begins. Lee has been waiting years for this moment. However, Shayna has spent that time avoiding it. There’s no avoiding him anymore! Lee tries, and tries, and tries. He just wants Shayna to hear him, understand him. He’s not even asking for forgiveness anymore! But they need some kind of friendly comradery if they’re going to be working together. She continues to go out of her way to give him the cold shoulder, and yet, all he’s done is be kind. Finally, she throws up the white flag. Very quickly, they both admit that the chemistry is still there and it doesn’t take long for the tension to snap again. There’s too much on the line for it to become what they actually want. They’re on borrowed time. It broke my heart that their only options were having each other and losing everything else, or losing each other. But Lee hasn’t waited all this time just to lose her again, and his grand gesture proves that. The best grand gestures in any sports romance, aside from involving the whole team in it, is the blatant decision to choose love over team. Because at the end of the day, Lee’s love for Shayna trumps everything else. The introduction to Brady’s book?! I am SO ready for more of this team!

4.5 stars!
The Kingsmen Football Stars series starts in spectacular style with Lee and Shayna’s story. After a disastrous ending to their relationship in college they are both left with baggage. Lee is full of regret and Shayna had to work hard to get back her self-confidence and is still hurt and angry at Lee. So when they end up working together 8 years later and Shayna pretends not to know Lee, cue some awkward interactions.
“It’s just like I remember – all-consuming, fiery, and explosive.”
But the chemistry and tension between them is ever present; it’s the trust that’s lacking.
Lee works so hard to win her trust back which is heart-warming to watch. Through this journey so much of their relationship is one step forward, two steps back but Lee learnt his lesson (mostly) about communication and I loved watching them eventually get their happily ever after.
There are plenty of Easter Eggs in here for fans of Piper Rayne. The well-developed secondary characters hints at a spectacular series to come for the Kingsmen Football Stars and I am so excited for it.

I was so excited to start a new Piper Rayne sports series- especially after my love for their hockey hotties world! You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows is a fantastic beginning to the Kingsman Football world. Brimming with all of the swoony charisma and heartfelt charm that I adore about Piper Rayne’s work. All the banter, all the sweet moments, and another great ensemble I know I’m going to adore. I’m already in love with this whole crew.

In this first outing with the Kingsman crew, we have a bit of a forbidden, a bit of a second chance, and a bit of the forbidden as hot shot quarterback Lee Burrows discovers his team’s new athletic trainer is none other than his former flame from his college days- the girl whose heart his shattered. Their chemistry and sizzle immediately resparks, but Shayna isn’t ready to forgive and forget their past. And a non-fraternization expectation for their professional behavior isn’t helping them either. But they can’t seem to deny there is something there still between them- and Lee is wanting to right his past wrongs.

This is loads of fun, and I also really enjoyed the audio narration. The story is banter-filled, with tons of enemies to lovers vibes, so it was perfect for audio performance. And we have such a delightful ensemble in the football players on the team. Piper Rayne always creates a big ole pack of characters that feel like (or sometimes are) family- and I can’t wait to see all of these characters over the course of the series. Lee is a fun lading man- hard working, a good teammate, a decent guy who is trying to be an even better guy. While at times I wish he was a bit less nonchalant about the risks she was taking, overall he’s quite a swoony book boyfriend. And Shayna certainly is his match- she’s sassy and capable and incredibly strong. He’s not going to make it easy for him. Their push and pull builds lots of great tension, but in true Piper Rayne fashion we don’t have TOO much, just a lot of sass, sweet, and steam.

Can’t wait for our next Kingsman’s story!

Great start to a new series. Love the Jasper/Lennon cameo and look forward to seeing more of them in Brady's book

YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE, LEE BURROWS By Piper Rayne

Lee broke Shayana's heart back when they were in college. Now he is the star quarterback of San Francisco Kingsmen and she is the new athletic trainer.
