Listened to this on my walks. It’s not the type of book I usually read, but I saw it on hoopla and had heard good things so I went for it. It was all right. Reminded me of the very few other books like this I’ve read. The author read it though and I did really like her voice. #engelbrechtreads #engelbrechtreads2018
challenging emotional inspiring slow-paced

Tengo que decir que muchos capítulos no me gustaron, no eran para mí. Pero hubo otros con los que realmente me identifique.

This book could alternatively be titled:

Ableist and Privilege: the Memoir

I’ve been getting really into the self help genre and pretty much always love feminism so this book felt like a one-two punch of my interests. Golly was I wrong.

As much as I want to spend time reading someone’s account of how to reframe privilege as a struggle (I don’t), this book did not hold my interest. Despite my best efforts, other than encouragement to just try to be happy there wasn’t much to gain from this reading.

Meh. I don’t know the author so I imagine all of the hype was from the people who follow her. The book had some great points, though.

I am not normally a person that reads a self help or motivational book but I keep hearing about this book. I should also be honest and say that I am not familiar with the author, I know that she has a big following but I wasn’t one of them. I really enjoyed this book. I thought she did a great job of discussing lies that women are told and her thoughts along with motivational support to also rise above the lie. Some of the chapters did not pertain to me but the majority did. I definitely feel the need to go wash my face and get up.

A not so humble brag with no deep insight.

While this book may be helpful for some, I found the writing to be too pretentious and didn't come away with any increased spark.

This gave me “women for Trump” vibes

Some good thoughts and ideas but not the most incredible book I've ever read.
