While initially seeming like yet another J.P. Beaumont case, Breach of Duty takes many twists and turns along the way that makes it stand out from its 13 prior literary brethren. While I can't divulge many details without spoiling the mysteries that lie within the covers, I can say that this book retains J.A. Jance's skill of pacing, with the story picking up the pace to a heart-pounding climax over the course of the last few chapters. The ending was quite emotional though, for the sake of spoilers, I won't diverge any info about it.

While not my favorite J.P. Beaumont book in the series thus far, Breach of Duty stands among the best in my eyes.

Since the first book in the series, I’ve been wondering if/when Beaumont would quit his job. This book (I want to call each book an episode, as though it’s a tv series) was one per full of emotional things, although a couple loose ends from the last book were never quite cleared up. Maybe it’ll come in a future episode? (Such as what happened with the girls’ mom)

This one packed a punch. It is the third JP Beaumont that I read, and there were links to the later books as far as characters and references to cases. JA Jance is at her best with this one. Having lived in the Seattle area for most of my life, the setting is always great. It was a nice surprise that she referenced a very rare condition, Stevens-Johnson syndrome - Harborview is one of the foremost hospitals treating this - as I have survived a version of SJ. So, maybe my personal links bias my reading a bit, but I really felt this one was well done.

Just re-read this book as the latest J.P. Beaumont novel references his old partner's sons. This novel is about what happens to Sue Danielson, as well as two murder mysteries. This book is pivotal in the series; a lot of life changes for J.P. The murders, as always, have a lot of twists and turns. A solid entry in the series.

Good, solid detective mystery novel. I'm impressed the story is so solid after 14 books.

Wild story that started from a woman dying in a house fire. She smoked, so the investigators chalked it up to sad accident and closed the case. Turns out it wasn't nearly so simple, especially after $30k was discovered in an old refrigerator in her garage.
