The Wish is the first book by Nicholas Sparks that I have read and I am absolutely blown away by the way he writes. I love the story inside the story because it made me feel like I was actually there with Maggie experiencing everything that she was. I knew this book was going to make me cry but I wasn’t prepared for it feel like my heart was in a blender. There are so many twists that I never saw coming and the ending isn’t what I wanted it to be but I still found it to be the perfect way to finish the story.

The Wish: I wish I had not read this book. I wish I never get sucked into reading another Nicholas Sparks book again. I'm sure this type of book is fulfilling for many readers, but I just cannot enjoy the predictability and sappiness.

The present tense of the book was a little boring, but I enjoyed the flashbacks. Though the book was pretty predictable, the last 70 pages had me crying the whole time.

I honestly did not see the ending coming which I always appreciate. It was more real than a lot of the romance novels of Sparks past.

4 stars overall. 5 stars for the cry factor.

A story of present and past. Truthfully, I found the story of the present a bit boring. I would do a quick read/skim over the parts of Maggie's illness and gallery. The part I found captivating was when she would reminisce about Bryce and her teenage life. I loved the teen love story, the nostalgia it evoked, and the tenderness of first love. REconnecting in the end and bringing the past and present storyline together did bring a tear to my eye but I would have been just as happy if the teenage POV and love story had been the only timeline of the book.
