Broken Wings was a brilliant addition to Angel Eyes. It picks up pretty closely to where Angel Eyes left off and when you first start reading it, it seems that Brielle is doing pretty okay with moving on from Ali’s death. However, things start to spiral downward; her dad starts drinking and dating someone that Brielle isn’t fond of, Jake is hiding something, and to top it all off she is getting nightmares. To top it all off, Brielle finds out the truth about her mother’s death in this book.

The Prince of Darkness sends Damien after Brielle and Jake. He finds out about how Brielle can see the Terrestrial Veil and about Jake’s healing hands, like his own. It’s a battle of good vs evil. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. And a great ride.

I think Shannon did a wonderful job at the continuation of this story. Broken Wings was a book I couldn’t put down. It kept me interested and I loved every bit of it. Broken Wings will make you eagerly anticipate the third installment. I, personally, cannot wait to finish this trilogy with Dark Halo coming in August!

Like Angel Eyes, the story dragged for me at the start but did pick up speed later. It lacked the interesting revelations in Angel Eyes--that's not Dittemore's fault, but it made it a less interesting reads. And I felt it had many more speculative, extremely extra-Biblical elements regarding angels (as in, the author making up new classes of angels and demons, and even declaring certain extra-Biblical beliefs of many Evangelicals, such as Satan originally being God's worship leader, as truth). Given the modern-day setting and the teen audience, I'm not comfortable with those aspects. I don't see God's plan in what happened with Brielle's family, but maybe it comes together in Book 3?

Again I really enjoyed this book as well. It was a great sequel to the Angel Eyes book.

I still loved the characters in this book and they have seemed to grow a lot more and still trying to deal with the demon threatening the city.

The story itself was really good and I really enjoyed the way it went. It answered all the questions that I had in the first book and asked some new ones yet it was all for the plot that you later find out how it all connects with the life of the main character.

It is a series that I really enjoyed so far.

The thing about Christian Fiction is that I read it to be inspired and to read about a character I can see myself in. I want to be able to relate to the story, the struggles with faith etc. That being said I do enjoy Spiritual Warfare novels that usually involve quite a bit of adventure/action I have never nor ever will experience. So when I opened this book and found that Elle was relate-able and it was spiritual warfare I was intrigued. I also really LOVED that this wasn't an angel story which involved a human being romantic involved with a angel (fallen or other wise (I really don't like those).

ANYWAY all that to say Angel Eyes is a good romance, imaginative, intriguing spiritual warfare story that I did enjoy reading in a few short hours. The trilogy as a whole, however, lost something on the way. The second and third novels try to up the first and more drama and more suspense and more fantastical battles between the angels and demons. It reached such a point that I felt like I was reading a fantasy and not Christian Fiction.

In Short I did enjoy this novel, but not the series.

And then I smelled it. For the first time ever, I smelled adoration. I smelled worship. Deep and earthy. And sweet. Like the lily of the valley that blanketed Gram's front lawn, the fragrance spread through the sky with the intensity of her praise. I wondered if she had any idea how sweet her devotion was to the heavenlies. How fragrant, how honeyed, how pleasing.

Broken Wings picks up a few months down the track from Angel eyes. Brielle is still trying to learn her way around her increasing celestial sight and all the supernatural that she has previously learnt exists and been exposed to. Her and Jake continue to grow closer much to the obvious displeasure of her father. He makes no bones about the fact that he dislikes Jake and is at times just plain rude. But Jake being Jake he is always courteous and polite. Brielle's father has also started drinking heavily and spending time with the much younger Olivia. As if Brielle didn't have enough to worry about she begins to see fear coming from Jake and realises that there is something that he is keeping from her. Oh and the prince of darkness wants both her and Jake and sends Damien to get them.

Broken Wings is book two in the Angel Eyes trilogy. And while I thought Angel Eyes was a great read, Broken Wings is way above that. It was absolutely fantastic!!! Shannon Dittemore knows how to form words into sentences of beauty. She has written a book that had me thoroughly engrossed. Fantastic characters, lots of secrets revealed, action galore, romance... Not a whole lot more that I could ask for.

"He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by the day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked."

Broken Wings has quite a lot of religion in it. A lot more than what was contained in book one. But I didn't feel that it lent towards anything overly preachy. In fact I liked that Brielle was embracing that side of things and had that common ground with Jake.

Another thing that I loved about Broken Wings was getting more of the story told from Jake's point of view. Most of the story is still told from Brielle's perspective but to have a chapter from Jake every now and then was awesome!!

And then there was the ending!! Oh boy!!! And now the wait for book three begins!!!

A Solid 4.5/5 Stars!!

Great book, great to see the characters again, the church stuff could get a bit heavy at times, but the ending was so good, and cliff-hanger-y, and I can't wait for the last book!

I loved Angel Eyes when I read it. I thought it was beautifully written and a really lovely angel story. Broken wings is the sequel to Angel Eyes and it was just as beautifully written. I thought that Broken Wings was a bit heavier on the religion than the first book was. While I didn't mind that, I know that can be off putting for some people. I thought the amount of religion in the first book was perfect, and this was just a bit more. There are some epic scenes in Broken Wings that had me on the edge of my seat. I liked the pacing as well. Overall, I thought that Broken Wings was a great sequel to Angel Eyes.

I felt for Brielle. I mean she had a rough time at the end of the first book, and she just wants her life to calm down a bit. And who can blame her? I think I would be hoping for less excitement and a little more normalcy as well. Plus, if Jake was my boyfriend, I think I would be more than happy just hanging out with him and not having to fight the big bad evil. But, hey, that's just me. But she doesn't really get her wish. There are lots of things going on in Broken Wings. Demons and fights and spies and secrets- oh my!

It also seemed like a lot of people were hiding things in Broken Wings. There were plenty of secrets to get to the bottom of. Brielle can see into the celestial world now, so that adds to things. I loved the description of the two worlds through Brielle's eyes. I thought that Shannon Dittemore did a great job with the description of everything. It really added life to the book.

Overall, this is a beautiful addition to this series. Although there is more religion than in the first book, so if that kind of thing bothers you, you may want to try something else. But if you enjoy christian themes and overtones in books, you need to read this series because I think it is wonderfully done!

Shannon Dittemore is an amazing writer. Teen romance and angels wouldn't normally be my thing, but Broken Wings is a great middle story in the Angel Eyes trilogy. The beauty and depth in this book is remarkable. Now excuse me...time for book 3....
