This book has a plot that creeps up on you like a knife in the back, incredibly interesting worldbuilding, and compelling, imperfect characters, but suffers from structural weaknesses. Critiques and spoilers ahead: Gravitas is given to the cutting of threads but it is not always carried through the actions of characters, and plot points are sometimes shallow or not well-woven aspects of the story; it’s not that reveals, such as Thais and the Furies, came out of nowhere so much as I wish my expectations had been set up by the narrative rather than my familiarity with plot structures. I also wish relationships throughout, even the briefest friendships, had a little more depth.
Despite all of this, I love this world and enjoy the character concepts—I know this is meant to be the first of a series, so I’ll keep reading and see what happens!

to be a YA, baddie, female protagonist is now top of my bucket list because OH MY GOD!!!
threads that bind was everything and MORE. the lore, “magic” system, the plot, the world-building, all of it was perfection. from the beginning i was immersed. i loved that this was a mystery. i never knew what was happening until right at the end. perfect amount of foreshadowing, etc. I COULD LITERALLY TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK FOR DAYS.
the fact it took me this long to read it is a crime. genuinely on the edge of my seat for june when the second book comes out. io is about to “destroy” the world and i cannot wait. shoutout to EDEI too!!!! BEST BOY OF THE YEAR!!!

“Most threads frayed over time and distance, but never Io’s. Her love was evergreen.”
This book was wonderful, and somewhere between cozy, fantasy, and greek retelling! The dynamic between the diverse cast of characters (including a character with Vitiligo) is delightful! The relationship the character’s had with each other was so enjoyable and the plot was quick paced and engaging, with twists and turns.
My biggest issue with the book is that it’s almost too quick paced. There are pieces of the plot I actually wish were longer and a little more flushed out. Io makes some snap decisions in regards to the overall mystery. I appreciate the movement of the plot, but I wish there was more time for Io to put her conclusions together.
Overall, a very enjoyable, quick paced, story with an interesting and engaging mystery!

I just finished threads that bind by @kikahatzopoulou and it was fucking phenomenal. The book has fated mates, Greek mythology, LGBTQ supporting cast, mystery, gangs, murder and sibling trauma discussion. When I saw I am obsessed
