It was cute and fun for those that like video game RPGs and other fantasy gaming things.

The protagonist names his character "Jim" and it takes about two-thirds of the book for him to find out why people react the way they do whenever he announces his name.

Funny, potty-humor, lit-RPG, novel about a man who finds himself a character in a role-playing game. He starts out knowing nothing and has to figure out how to flesh out his character sheet. Along the way he kills a lot of wolves, annoys some goblins, and makes a few friends.

The first in a series. I listened on audio so wasn't disturbed by the poor editing that some other readers have mentioned. Enjoyed it enough that I plan on picking up the second book to see where the story goes from here. The constant repetition of Jim's entire character sheet every chapter was annoying. We got it the first time, or the first five times. Pretty sure that's going to be a trend over the whole series though.

The audience is gamers. If you're not a gamer, and don't find typical gamer humor amusing you will not enjoy this book.

Delightful little book, great start to a series. The original elements from this writer in this trope-heavy genre are well throught out and work splendidly. Feeling a binge listening coming up, finished this book in about a day. Only slight concern is that demon familiar/companion/nemesis/sidekick - I udnerstand he's there to provide exposition but the character might be getting annoying and detrimental to the reading pleasure real soon.

Great first entry for a LitRPG series but unfortunately the first book too closely follows the standard formula in this genre. If this is your first exposure to Gamelit/LitRPGs you should have a good time. The writing is solid (much better than most first books in this genre) and the characters are enjoyable. The author doesn't rely on over-the-top personalities or reliance on pop culture reference to pull the reader into the story.

The story is only 2/5 stars since there is very little new about this book
The writing is a solid 4/5. It's not on par with a Tolkien or King novel. This might be the best written first entry for a LitRPG series. I'm very excited to see where the author goes with the story (and hopefully they deviate from other writers).

I'm giving the book a 5/5 stars just because books are always over scored. For the subgenre this is a 5/5.
