The thing is, I'm mad at myself for reading SO MANY MIDDLE GRADES when I should be reading YA,but I just feel like there are a lot of good middle grades out there and I'm just not ready to completely leave the genre behind.
See You in the Cosmos is moving and heartwarming, fast paced and VERY original, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really enjoy road trip novels, and this one might be my favorite yet. Alex is such a likable little kid, and you will end up rooting for him throughout the entire book. There are quite a few surprises and a cute little plot twist. I LOVE that this book doesn't have any romance, which it anyway shouldn't as it IS a middle grade! There really isn't much to say. It's a fantastic story about family, hope and finding yourself, and it might just leave you tearing up - in the best way possible!

The audiobook version was so so good! Done as a full cast, it felt like I was listening to a production instead of an audiobook. Had some minor issues with the story which is why I only gave it 4, but I would highly recommend the audiobook.

Alex is such an adorable personnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

4,5/5 ⭐️

I was attracted to it particularly because it was recommended for Wonder readers. This book is mainly for younger readers, which I am not, but decided to give it a go anyways.

I think I related to this book in some way as I love Science and Astronomy, so I could see the obsession with space in Alex Petroski. I love the characters and the storyline, with the recording format of the book that makes it interesting.

However, this book can be quite draggy at some parts and honestly, quite repetitive.
Only around the last few pages and certain sections of the middle are interesting. It was fascinating to see the world from Alex's point of view, and to find out the truth about his family and his epiphany was indeed a great part of the book. Recommended for casual reading.

Fantastic on audio. The story is told through a series of voice recordings on an iPod. The narrator is quirky, smart, kind-hearted, and adorable. This story tackles some big stuff, like mental illness, love, and broken families, in an interesting and fairly gentle way. I would recommend it for 10 and up.

This audiobook is just so precious. I loved it.

An extremely original book that really speaks from the heart of a child. There’s so many emotions in this book. I highly suggest reading it.

I bought this book for my kids in Chicago to read with my girlfriend and I as part of our first "bookclub read," and it had such an excellent message for kids and adult alike, and I love Alex so much. A wonderful book to bring in the new year reading.
