I feel a lot of these comments just don't do this book justice. Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinion I almost didn't read this book due to some of these comments but thankfully there was enough good comments to at least give me reason to have a little look. I am so glad I did the language and story of this book is great and I felt it was a solid 4 stars but saying that it wasn't until reading the following books that I feel it really took off. Whilst each book is great on its own watching the characters grow throughout the series is amazing and the author does a great job throughout building on the characters he created in this first book. ( just as a heads up whilst I have this a solid 4 stars I have given the following 6 books each 5 stars. I think it's great. ) cannot wait for the finale. Have even read the short stories that flesh out some of the characters on his website whilst waiting for the final book.

Not the most eloquent book, but it was very entertaining. It was a nice mix of horror, action, and comedy. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series

Close to a good book, but too many juvenile sex/gay jokes for my taste

good quick read...some serious dude literature, but not your typical vampire novel. If you like good geeky and sarcastic humor, this is your book.

Its not horribly written and it has its moments when its almost funny, but there isn't a redeeming quality in a single character in the whole sorry book. Bill, the geek turned vampire, is one of those insecure fat-shaming, slut-shaming, self-pitying jerks who you know has a Tumblr blog where he rants about how he and his buddies are nice guys who always get friend-zoned by women, women who are all slutty worthless *itches he'd still nail if given half a chance. He also has no qualms about murder, save for it sometimes being icky.
And he's probably the nicest character in the book. Ew.

Irreverant, funny and doesn't take itself seriously. Worth reading, I'll check out the author's other books.

The only reason this is fantasy is because of the vampires. It's a fun book to read. The MC is a bit of a smart ass, but he's funny as hell. Also, Sally is off the rails. She's a fun person the ENTIRE book. Imagine being a brand new vampire that happens to be uncontrollable and the big cheese is running around trying to make you sound like you are pretty much Blade, but at the end of the day you are about as hard as a care-bear that excels in D&D. That's pretty much the main character. He's a dude he's about as violent as a 1 year old in a group of people who are pretty much all certifiable hard core killers. And the way he get's out of one situation and put into another is downright hilarious. It's worth the read. Quite the funny story. About to pick up the next book in a minute.

So funny and witty! I love the spin on vampire and enjoyed every minute of this book. I love the protagonist and his average-ness as well as all his sidekicks and side characters. I put this book off for a long time, because I just was a little burned out on vampires but I'm glad I gave it a go, and sorry I didn't do it sooner. The best part in waiting so long is that I can rest easy as there is plenty of books in the series to keep me going for a while. That being said ~~~on ..to book two!

"*Thud, thud* There it is again! For f**ks sake! Some days I hate living here. There's always some white-bread little teenaged douche pumping out Tupac from his daddy's Beemer because he's sure he can relate to life on the streets."

It's a lot of cracking wise when a video game programmer gets turned into a vampire. Fun characters and funny read...from Bill's very accepting roommates to the Optimus Prime action figure that works better than a cross. I found myself giggling and snorting a lot. This was a nice change of pace from the "sexy vampire" book.
