Here we are again, although I did not care too much for The Upside to Being Single, I am obviously back to support a personal favorite author, because I just have to. My hopes and dreams going into The Hook-Up Experiment were average at best with a side of caution, I was hoping for yummy goodies but set myself up to assume it might be average. Thank goodness I got a little bit better with my expectations because I definitely preferred Peyton's storyline over Mellie.
The most important thing that always gets me interesting in Emma Hart's books is her quirky fun, up-beat and assertive scenarios for her characters. The backbone of all her novels are surrounded by the building of main relationship blossoming to the supporting cast, everything and everyone is linked. Basically from Peyton to Elliot to Dom, Chloe then back around to Jake and Mellie. This is something I really enjoy about her writing style.
Of course since the characters are the main basis of all things holy in this book, I gotta dive into this more. I loved Elliot. Why is it I always end up liking the male lead more, but it happened again. He is just adorable with his daughter, his personality is just easy-going yet straight forward. Elliot is the perfect match for Peyton, he matches her in sarcasm and snarky attitude.
Peyton however was a love/hate for me, and not always in the best of light. In some aspects I really enjoyed her stubborn attitude, snide sarcastic jokes - making her seem like the life of the party. My issue however can be leveled with the fact that she is such an immature mindset it makes me want to scream. Peyton held onto this immature grudge for well over a decade, hell it was because of a missing prom incident, yet for whatever reason couldn't seem to grow up and move on from this factor? Like she legitimately loathed Elliot for this incident that happened in High School - this just seemed rather trivial to me for a plot. I would have much rather liked it to have been more catastrophic if a person was going to hold a grudge for so long.
Regardless of this factor, I will be the first to admit that the chemistry between Peyton and Elliot was delicious, fun and above all entertaining. The connection they served was believable. The sex scenes - oh my goodness, let me just wipe the drool.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel more than I thought I would. I was excited because I loved the synposis but didn't want to get my expectations too high after my disappointment previously. I am happy this shined a better light. It was decently paced, breeze type read where I read it pretty fast and enjoyed it. Aside from the lingering juvenile personalities that seemed to be over played in the plot, I liked the characters enjoy to keep reading. I am curious to see how The Dating Experiment will pan out, really interested to see how Dom and Chloe work out!

“Jesus Christ, you’re a sarcastic little shit.” “ Don’t be mean.” “Truth hurts. So does spanking.” She paused. “Not if you do it right.” “Truth or spanking?” “Spanking. The only kind of truth I like is when my bank account tells me I can buy fancy wine this weekend.”
I think one reason I love Emma Hart’s books so much is because the women are so sarcastic. I could seriously picture myself saying some of these things if I was in a similar situation. I love that this was Peyton’s story but Emma Hart still kept most/all of the same characters around for this book except we meet the swoon worthy Elliot! 😍😘 There was definitely times during reading I’d let out a little squeal. Reading all these romance books has definitely given me unrealistic expectations of guys.

" There’s only one thing you are supposed to lose and never find, your virginity.”"
I usually hate lots of drama. However, this book begins with lots of past drama. High school issues come back up when Payton makes a bet with her brother, Dom, about whether or not a person can have sex with someone three times and not fall in love. Her best friends set her up with her high school nemesis thinking that she will be able to resist him no problem.
But Payton and Elliot have serious sparks and lots of history. Payton realizes that her stubbornness has cost her a lot. Elliot has an adorable daughter and he sees this as his chance to tell Payton what happened in high school .
Once these two talk, the drama is sorted out. I loved that Payton is not ashamed of her business and that she owns up to her mistakes. Her OCD made me laugh too.
Elliot is hot and swoony and an excellent father. His daughter is fantastic. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next books.

Ms Hart is the queen of Rom Coms.
This is a laugh out loud, sweet, sassy story.
Peyton is the owner of a hookup website and her and Elliott and so great and funny togther.
I'm so excited for the next book in this series of Standalones.
I volunteered to read a copy of this book

Absolutely the best book written by Hart to date. Peyton and Elliot are amazing. This book is real, snarky and laugh out loud funny. This may have ruined me for all other books. It's going to be a go-to beach read for me and one that I will highly recommend. Not sure how Hart is gonna top this, but I can't wait to see.
The Hook-Up Experiment is the first book in The Experiment Duet, but if you read The Upside to Being Single, this is Peyton's story! Emma Hart is the queen of the rom-com. I read all of her books because she's hilarious and talented. I don’t know how she keeps coming up with these fantastic characters and funny as hell plots! Peyton is independent, stubborn, beautiful and holding a decade long grudge on her high school sweetheart. She needs to prove to her brother that she can sleep with a guy three times and not fall in love. She can totally do that. Until she sees the guy. Elliott Sloane. She hates him. So much. He broke her heart in high school. This is going to be a piece of cake. Until he looks at her that way. Until he finally gets to tell her the truth. Can she handle the truth? Will it change everything she thought she knew? Elliott is sweet, sexy and gives as good as he gets. He doesn't let Peyton get away with her craziness. He let her get away once and he isn't going to do that again. He has a lot going on in his life, raising his daughter on his own, but he can't say no to Peyton. Elliott and Peyton are hilarious together! Their banter is top notch and their chemistry is hot. Overall, I laughed, got hot and bothered and wanted more! I loved seeing previous characters again and I can't wait for Chloe's story!
"Me, Elliott. You, Peyton. Me, boner."
"I should have let you walk away."
That ass could make lesbians cry. It was peachier than the state of Georgia.
It might have been a mistake introducing these two. Not only was my daughter becoming increasingly obsessed with someone who seemed to be a brunette, adult version of her… No, that was the problem. Peyton was the brunette, adult version of Briony.
"You're pretty."
"Thank you."
"And you're rather handsome yourself."
"I know."
"You're an idiot."
"Yeah, but I'm a handsome idiot."

Pure entertainment! This follows the story of Peyton and Elliot reconnected on a blind date after a decade past high school. A lot of things get unburied and wow does it get feisty! I really just enjoy Emma Hart!
