Oof this one was DARK. I was not expecting it to get as dark as it did, and thought the whole concept was super interesting between the twin brothers, the Facebook moms, the obsession with celebs. I don't know how to review without spoiling but if you're comfortable with dark novels, you'll enjoy this one.

Thank you Thomas & Mercer for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. IYKYK, my reviews are always honest.

Writing: 3/5 | Plot: predictable but well-executed | Ending: solid

SYNOPSIS

Twin brothers. One lover. Two dead people. What's going on????

MY OPINION

Shoutout to @mytobereadstash for the buddy read even though I'm notoriously terrible at them and finished the book in a day

3.5 ✨ I had a good time listening to this and was overall entertained through this audio. I felt like it was pretty predictable but an overall reliable thriller.

Pre-read comments:
I have read every single book published under A.R. Torre and am working my way through the authors other titles without a pseudonym. I automatically purchase and read new titles, they have all been great reads.

Review:
At the 25% mark, I couldn't believe I was still uninterested in what was in front of me. I put the book down for a couple of months and picked it back up in August and re-started. I still struggled through most of this book, and found the viewpoints and plot lacking the heavy hitting the author pumps out.

This was incredibly packed and fast-paced. There was always something happening and was never boring. As with all of the authors' other stories, it is incredibly well written.

I found this book quite predictable, and while sometimes that's okay, the journey to get there didn't feel worthwhile. We didn't get to understand the bond Nora really had with either twin and the love didn't translate. The number of characters and perspectives were too much, and I wanted to hear this more from the main characters' perspectives.

I will still continue to support the authors work, she's a favourite. This one just wasn't for me.

Just okay. It felt unfinished and like some parts were missing. Some predictable twists, and could have focused less on some characters especially when we’re left with loose ends.

I didn’t dislike the book, in fact it was going to be between 1-2 stars until the ending plot twist saved it. But the beginning was VERY confusing. Maybe had I read it rather than listened to the audiobook version it would have been easier to keep up with, but it just kind of felt like a bunch of new characters spawning with little to no explanation of who they were or how they were involved. It did all come together eventually, but I did have to listen to the first chunk of the book more than once to try and understand. It felt like 2 stories poorly mashed into one.
You have Nora and the Twins, with the cheating and switching personalities. And then you have the mother & sick child, who was partially a victim of Munchausen by proxy. Only linked together by Hugh taking it upon himself to murder mothers with this syndrome due to his childhood experiences with it.
