Overall this was a fine book. I wouldn’t recommend it, but I also wouldn’t discourage someone from reading it. It touched on some sensitive topics (depression, infinite death, infidelity). So I would check out the trigger warnings before reading. I didn’t feel like I connected with any of the characters, so I think that plays into my lower rating.

This was the perfect book at the perfect time. I couldn't even tell you why I picked it up, just that I saw it on a list and decided that I need to read it. It was about four high school students and an accident that happened after graduation their junior year of school. It is the struggle of the survives and their parents and the injured. It is a story of secrets and blame and figuring out that life is not always the way that it seems. It is a touching book with a great story. I didn't want to put it down I wanted to see where things went and who thought and knew what. I loved the way it was told in different perspectives and how you got to see the personalities and the personal choices everyone made. The last few lines stuck with me and probably will for awhile.
Spoiler We would all of us persevere. We would keep going. We would movie in the only direction we could move, and that was foward.

This was my first book by Elin Hilderbrand. I throughly enjoyed it. It had a great storyline with characters that were so relatable. It really talks about how the secrets we keep can affect so many ppl. I look forward to reading more books by her. I also have a desire to visit Nantucket now with the way she portrayed this beautiful island.

Listened to the audio book. The reader seems to mix the Australian accent with a Boston accent at times which made it confusing/hard to listen to. Enjoyed the story though.

I always want to like these books more than I do. I felt like the plot was confusing and I wasn’t sure what the plot was, like what we were getting towards. the timeline jumped around a lot between characters so that was confusing.

also who is the narrator, is it just a random islander? I don’t like the random small parts of 2nd person pov they add in.

2.5-3 stars. This is the first book I have read by Hilderbrand, and I hear her newer stuff is better. The mystery and characters held my interest, but I am curious to see if I like her newer works better.
