I couldn't stop thinking about Travis so I just had to read the book. I wasn't going to right away. I was going to wait but just knowing how crazy Travis was in Walking Disaster I had to find out what the heck was going on in that crazy head of his. This story is exactly what you think it is - a guy's perspective. It lacks the details of the story told from Abby's perspective. While it did help to move the story along I found myself wanting more in certain places. A really awesome surprise to this story was that it did not end exactly where Abby's did so in that way it made up for some of the lack of detail. Reading the story from the perspective of Travis I no longer think he is insane - like a lot of men he had no idea how to deal with his emotions and it manifested in interesting behaviors. Overall, these were two really good books.

i liked seeing the story from travis's point of view. there are extra scenes in the story that are not in the first book. i like reading this story from travis's view because it makes you love this story even more.

3.5 stars

What was the point of this? Most of the book is EXACTLY the same as the first book?!!? I didn't realize when I picked this up.

The same story told from the male's perspective. I'd have preferred a book with dueling perspectives rather than the same book twice.

this book is a walking disaster

I actually really enjoyed Beautiful Disaster, and looked forward to reading the different perspective that this book claimed to offer. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the author built enough different moments into the story, nor varied the perspective or voice enough to make it really engaging. I found myself skipping over many long sections of the book after realizing a great deal of it was essentially copied and pasted from the first novel. I think the author shows a lot of promise in the young adult realm, and I respect that she released this book for her fans, the most rabid of whom will still undoubtedly devour this story. I do think, though, that McGuire might have just waited for her next great story rather than rehashing the same story with minimal differences. The epilogue was enjoyable, however, so if she decides to repeat stories in the future, I'd suggest for the latter half of each she incorporate different pockets of time and moments that were offscreen in the first story.

It feels like I’ve waited so long for this and it definitely didn’t disappoint! I mean you need to go into this knowing it’s the same story, but from Travis’s POV. Don’t get me wrong, you do get extras, like more of Travis’s history (the prologue) and his family which I want more of! I love the Maddox men!! There are definitely some scenes that Abby stresses in Beautiful Disaster that aren’t stressed in this book or that made Travis sound like an absolute nut (which he kind of is), but then from Travis’s point of view, he was so much more endearing and just so driven by passion that I could actually feel it. I mean don’t get me wrong, Travis is messed up… he’s has major anger management issues, but he’s also funny, sincere, and deep. The beginning of the book when he forms a relationship with Abby had so many funny parts. I think that was my favorite part of his POV, seeing what he saw and feeling what he felt. I mean there’s no way anyone can read this book and say he wasn’t in love to the core of his soul.

“A toast!” I yelled, climbing onto a chair. On my way to the top, I stole someone’s beer and held it out in front of me. “To douche bags! I said, gesturing to Brad. “ And to girls that break your heart. “ I bowed to Abby. My throat tightened. “And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”

Talk about an EPIC love, no matter how dysfunctional they are!!! I can’t say I love Travis all the time… I hate how self-deprecating he can be, but after reading his POV, I definitely understand him more and I understand why he fights for everything. He fights for who he loves no matter the cost.

“I know we’re fucked up, all right? I’m impulsive and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you . . . but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze or money or the fighting or the one-night stands . . . all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.”

I feel giddy!!!! Is that wrong?????
