This is my favorite of the Elin Hilderbrand books I have read to date. I liked both main characters a lot. I liked how they interacted and how the backstory unfolded gradually as current events played out.
My one very small gripe is that the cover photo does not look like a Nantucket/New England beach at all.

I liked this more than I thought i would. Although predictable, and tbh it felt like reading a Danielle Steel novel back in the days, it was a satisfying, easy read.
Every time I begin a novel by Elin Hilderbrand I struggle with it. I think it's the same as the last book but the characters are older, or they live in a different state, whatever. I put the book down and think it is horribly formulaic and I don't want to waste time reading it. But then I start thinking that I loved the last four books that I read by her and eventually I end up going back to the book to read it. Silver Girl was one of those books. At a loss as to what I should check out from the library, I picked it up once again and brought it home. I skipped to the spot where I'd left off and kept reading. And, like every other Elin Hilderbrand novel I have read, I fell in love with it. The characters are real, the stories are just realistic enough to connect you, and the feel of Nantucket (one of my most favorite places) sweeps you away. Silver Girl really is a book you can't put down once you get started.
I don't think this was Hilderbrand's best. It wasn't bad, it wasn't fabulous. I enjoyed reading it.
Inspired by the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, I was intrigued by the premise of the book and was happy to see that the main characters were 40-something women. Sadly, that’s where my interest in this one ended. This was about 150 pages longer than it should have been and STILL, there were so many loose ends and undeveloped plot elements at the resolution. In addition, the love stories were bland and forgettable, the incessant repetition of the same ideas (like Meredith’s graying hair) was annoying, and the complete obliviousness to her husband’s cheating ways was not believable. This was my least favorite Hilderbrand novel I’ve read yet and one I would advise others to skip.
3.5 rounded to 4? As usual loved the setting, food and fashion descriptions, loved the back stories woven in, but was just a bit cringe at times?

It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. Good for an easy beach read.
