It's been a few years since I've read the preceding Psy-Changeling novels and I was delighted to revisit them where I left off. While this novel retains Nalini Singh's excellent world-building, there are many repetitive elements along with minimal spice. The repetitive elements stem from numerous descriptions of couples with their children (I get it, it's hot in heterosexual couples when men hold/take care of small children). Similarly, I understand that this novel is more panoramic in nature and does not focus on a single couple but there are virtually no substantive spicy scenes, which is disappointing.
In spite of these short-comings, the novel is well-written and its pacing has enough high stakes situations sustain interest and build up tension. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I'm only half way through and my heart hurts. This is, so far, a triumphant segue to the next arc. I'll pause here to dry my eyes before I move on to finish the book.
If you weren't already in love with these characters, you will be when you finish this book. Possibly the best of the series and that's saying a lot because this is an amazing world filled with lovable, and hate-able, people.

So, this book was the most filler book of em all. All we get to see is how life is for the various couples from the previous books in this series. Other than adults cooing at their kids and that of others, not much happens in this one. After one scene -- or ten -- like that, it begins to get on your nerves. Ms. Singh also likes to tie up things up neatly, so we also get to find out that the boy with cardinal eyes who'd saved Anne was none other than Caleb. I think the major takeaway for fans here would be that the changelings may be diverse but they're starting to come together -- including the rat pack whose members had lived on the fringes of society so far.
Nalini Singh has wrote another stellar book. This series has given me so much joy over the years as it has developed. Sasha and Lucas are basically the dream couple and their daughter is the most adorable child.
This novel would be okay as a standalone novel but in the series it is a beautiful amalgamation of all the stories before it. All the characters have been so well connected and their stories are all so integrated. This series has an obvious structure and a huge amount of forethought put into it which I commend Singh for.
