Totally going to miss Watson and Holmes. It was interesting to see more in this book from Charlotte’s perspective. Page 222 threw me for a proverbial loop. That ending made me rather angsty (not that that’s entirely a word, but it’s midnight and I had a long day...), though the epilogue helped a bit. I still have questions, but I think that’s ok. Loved this series! If you haven’t read it, do so ASAP!

happy new year.

what am i doing at new year's time with the final book of a series i have never read or heard about anyway?

the mystery was fine enough, though not as related to Sherlock Holmes as i initially expected.

the final chapter had me slightly shocked by the main character's decision, but again, i do not follow the series. what do i have to say about the decisions of people i barely know?

- is that, you are not the family you are born into, and you do not need to follow a conventional standard of success to be happy. and that, the person who loves you will wait on the pavement, will take exhausting train rides with unread textbooks, and will stay with you even if - even when - you have to run away and abandon everything you know to get to know yourself and heal.

happy new year.

Why doesn’t this series get more hype? It was excellent the entire way through, and I loved this ending. It was a little different than I expected, but still really good. I hope this isn’t the end and we get a contemporary/new adult series of a slightly older Charlotte and Jamie. Even though I liked where it left off, I love both of those characters so much and I want more of them. Their relationship is amazing, and the extra romantic elements in this one were so good.

The mystery in this was a bit different than the other books, not necessarily in a bad way but I didn’t find it as interesting. I did really like that the entire book aside from the epilogue was written from Charlotte’s POV because it was different to see her emotional responses from the inside. It really illustrated how she grew throughout the series, and even though I liked Jamie’s POV as well I thought writing the finale from Charlotte’s was a good decision.

I’m definitely glad that I picked up this series, and I know that I’ll be revisiting it again in the future. It was so good, and my only complaint with it was that we didn’t get more of it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was the last in the series from what I’ve gathered & it worked as a good finisher. I would definitely say that this was not my favorite of the series. It was the shortest and the one with the least developed story, but it was still good to be back with the characters. I missed the banter.
I think the mystery in this one was not good. There was more that could have been done and it seems to wrap up way too quickly with too many loose ends. This was meant to be a vehicle for the end of the characters, but I didn’t fully mind it.
I still really enjoyed the series. Overall I would give the book a 3.5/5 and a 4/5 to the series.

This was great, very different from the previous books but it was a lovely conclusion. I was a bit disappointed with the ending though I was hoping for something good for there relationship since it seemed to be going great but then she was like i would like to put it on hold for a year or two.

I like that the investigation was less high stakes than all the others it allowed the story to focus on Holmes and Watson.

It was great to see Charlotte and Jamie growing and exploring the world in a new, mostly Moriarty-less way. For a fourth book in a series, the plot was still relatively fresh, and the ending was very appropriate. Also Charlotte narrated this time!! I loved the switch up. Definitely helped flip the perspective to keep things new and interesting.

I'm devastated to hear that this is the conclusion to the series--there's still room for more stories, Ms. Cavallaro!--but this was certainly a satisfying read. If anything, Brittany Cavallaro's writing is even stronger and better than the 1st book, A Study in Charlotte, and the plot kept me guessing throughout. It's a charming, utterly delightful book, and the only thing about it that I'm not happy about is that I finished it–I want more!
