smitz's review
I'm a massive fan of Ruth and her memoirs. I often think about food using her words. But this was unbearable. Reeks of white privilege and Emily in Paris. It's not fun, it's not unputdownable, none of the characters are memorable or even nuanced.

I’m a Ruth Reichl fan, so I take not pleasure in reporting that this book is very bad.

A charming read that opens formulaically, but closes strong. The plot and character development picks up as the book goes on.
