It was a well written book. It kept me on my toes. However... I feel there were too many points of view being told.

Very ok. If I could give it 2.5 stars, I would. Very, very ok. Now, I must admit that my Dean Koontz sample size is only two. Devoted and False Memory. I liked False Memory quite a bit. Even reading the synopsis to Devoted, I think that I still hoped that it would be the typical Dean Koontz scary, horrifying, and really suspenseful. This one just fell a little flat. I have others by Koontz that I will be getting to eventually. Not going to let this one dissuade me from other Koontz.

Normally Koontz’s dog-centred-or-related novels are unbearable. However, DEVOTED broke that rule mostly because it wasn’t just about a dog; it featured a wide cast of interesting characters as well.

I haven’t read too much of him, but I’d say that it is possibly one of the darkest novels Koontz has written so far. DEVOTED gives hope that he may be getting better (I doubt it, though).

For those wanting a review: DEVOTED is not a horror novel (don’t let anybody tell you any different), but it IS a thrill-ride of a sci-fi/secret-conspiracy novel that has a side of cannibalism in it (the “horror” side of it, I think).

This book took me awhile to read. It’s weird because it didn’t grab me at anytime during the book, but I always came back because even as confusing as it was I couldn’t stop reading it.
There were some really gruesome scenes and descriptions that made me cringe, and I never really connected to any one character except Kipp, who I still don’t understand anything about.

The storyline jumped around but I was somewhat able to keep up with that even if I lost track of names here and there. It ended kind of quick, almost seemed too easy but I was happy with the ending.

This is my first book by this author and it was written well and it flowed making it an easy read. I would read more from this author and do plan to look into other books.

Good book but I didn't like the ending. Anti-climatic.

If Watchers is one of your favorite Koontz books, you're going to want to read Devoted. He takes the dog up a notch and you will love him and the autistic, non-verbal 11 year old. Of course there's a bad guy and he's pretty creepy. I have always loved how Koontz switches back and forth from scenarios because it builds up the tension and you just have to read more to find out what happens.

This book gets 2 stars because it was so bad that I actually had an utterly merry time reading it!
Each time I'm like, "Okay, it can't get much worse than this right?" and each time Mr Koontz was like, "Hold me beer!" and magnificently managed to make it far worse than even I was starting to learn to expect it to be!
I'm sort of keen for another one, just cos!
