OMG, Nicholas Sparks is skyrocketing in brownie points with me. Like that was amazing. Like i was literally reading for 2 night straight, texting my boyfriend in half an hour intervals, telling him it was amazing. Just, that incredible twist was so good, and it was so authentic. Fresh, too. Very fresh. Recommend for anybody, engaging and enthralling read. Delightfully surprised, completely in awe. You go, Nick.

I really liked the storyline as it was a little different then he's written before.

My favorite book by NS.

This book and The Rescue are some of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. Like all Sparks books, we know there is a tragedy, but this one definitely left me sobbinggg. 5/5 stars, would probably enjoy reading again.

Honestly it took me a WHILE to read this. It was a very slow start and took a long time to get to parts that were interesting. It also seemed like the climax was very rapidly developed and short lived. This book is about 390 pages and I think only 30-40 were the climax so that was disappointing. Overall a good story though.

I don't usually rate Nicholas Sparks books at five, because they are always romancy, lovey-dovey easy reads that make me go through an entire box of tissues. That being said, "The Guardian" was definately a five star read because is was very unique.

When I began reading, I thought "aww, this is going to be such a lovely book." Julie is a young widow whose husband died of a brain tumour, and he left her with a Great Dane puppy names Singer on her first Christmas without him...

...flash forward four years later, and Julie is ready for love again, Singer by her side to be her overprotective guardian figure. She meets Richard, an attractive, well put together man. However, she also has an interest in her late husband's best friend, Mike. This creates effective romantic tension for Julie, but it is HERE that Mr. Sparks strays from his typical and predictable romance novel...

...the whole thing turns into a crazy, wild thriller. There were parts of this book that had my heart palpatating like crazy. I was actually so scared on night to go to sleep after I had read a few chapters!!!

I GREATLY enjoyed this book!!! READ IT!!!

We listened to this book on the way home from the beach. My husband was a good sport to listen to my "chick" book. I don't think he hated it too bad...

I love Nicholas Sparks books but this one doesn't compare to The Notebook or A walk to remember. He writes in his Author's Note that he was trying something new, something with "love and danger" and something with a dog. This book includes a Great Dane named "Singer" that you will end up falling in love with. He has such a unique character that Julie talks to him like he's human. Julie's husband Jim asked someone to send the Great Dane puppy to her on Christmas eve with a letter he wrote knowing he might have died from cancer by then. The letter said that he didn't want her to be alone and that he wanted her to find someone that would make her happy. He also said that he would always be watching over her and I think that is where Singer came in.

This was a solid story. It was pretty predictable but packed an emotional punch. This is a good mix of romantic suspense.
