This is one of those times where I wish Goodreads had half-star ratings. I really feel like this book isn't good enough for 3 stars, but it didn't suck enough for 2 stars either. The book was all over the place. Charley's cases were again in a back seat role, though the serial killer one was of interest to me. It wrapped up too quickly though. There was a major reveal about the "War for the Portal", but again, it wasn't enough for me. Reyes was a total jerk early on in the book, and I didn't appreciate his secret keeping for most of it, so it was a good thing he was absent for a large portion of it. What this felt like was a mish-mash of little bits of plot threads, expertly woven into a story with some resolution. There was an interesting development at the end of this story, but with me only owning one more full length novel in the series, I'm not holding out much hope for continuing the series.

Ugh the cliffhangers

Best one out of the 5 books- oh the ending!! I'm ready for the sixth book NOW Love this couple

always fun to visit the world of Charley and the gang. This story was particularly edge of your seat and i loved how the mystery came together at the end. Great story.

Best one so far!

Pretty sure I'm rating these books purely on my feelings for Reyes Farrow.

This book had a little more substance and serious moments than the previous ones but the story was also just that much better for it.

OMG this book . . . this series . . . I can't help it I have to swoon. The comedy and romance were on point. After four books Reyes and Charley are finally taking the steps to define their relationship. As much as I like these characters I want to knock some sense into them as well. A relationship can't last solely based on thin veiled threats and sexy times.

These two are doing a lot of character growth. Reyes is starting to use his words more. Before hand he was so passionate, quick to anger, and now he is truly trying to talk to Charley. He has a lot of demons from his rough upbringing but he wants to make this relationship work.

They both push each other after there comfort zone. Charley can admit to herself that she has always loved Reyes, but now that he is actually here in front of her, she doesn't really know how to act.

Charley is growing as well. I wouldn't say she was becoming darker, she is just becoming more aware of her powers. She uses her new abilities to defend her friends and herself. This was also the first time I was ever really angry with her. She lashed out against her friend, Rocket, and it ached to listen to that part. The narrator did such an amazing job, I felt Rocket's betray and fear.

We also got more information this book about the upcoming war and who Charley really is. We learn more about the Reapers or Seekers as they are called on other planes.

I give this book a B.

We are getting a lot of information as the series progresses, it can be a little overwhelming at times. We spent a a good chunk of time talking about seekers and Reyes true purpose for finding Charley . . . and then we never talked about it again for the last 4 hours of the book.
