i think my life will still be fucked after reading this book. but there was some thought provoking thoughts.
Nothing new, but all useful reminders. I like the attitude, the pithy writing, and the no nonsense approach to motivation. I can see this inspiring plenty.

Bishop has a straightforward approach that mixes psychology, stoicism, practicality, and good old fashioned blatant directedness to discuss why you are not living the life you want. Each chapter is based on a simple mantra but is filled with practical understanding for why you are experiencing things a certain way and some advice for how to move in a positive direction. While not entirely different in the content from other self-help, change, or personal growth books out there, where Bishop differs, and where I connect with it, is his style. If you need something that is part philosophy, part lecture, part intellectual insight with the style of a Scottsman, then this is the book.

Amazing book! Will read again and again.
Some good practical advice. I was not in the target audience for the book, so it hit a little different.
I really love a good self-help book, and this one was very helpful. It's short, which is nice. He has several themes or mantras, which include I am Relentless, I Got This, and my favorite: I am Not my Thoughts, I am my Actions. I was attracted to this book by the subtitle because I do need to get out of my head, and it did not disappoint. Also, the author reads the book in his charming Scottish accent in a conversational tone. It's like a good pep talk. I will probably listen to this again. He quotes a lot of the Stoics (always a solid self-help basis) and some other philosophers (Jung). His celebrity examples are not my cup of tea but they work for his purposes (Schwarzenegger, meh). A lot of self-help books nowadays are just sales pitches for the author's products, and Bishop is no different but at least he saves the pitch for the very last, it's not nonstop "go to my website! Buy my programs!"
