It felt like I was being yelled at by a teacher or something. Interesting for sure and motivating but very basic? Quoting random philosophers without knowing the meaning or context of the lessons? Read if you need a slap across the face to do something, but that’s it.
Read this book only if you are intentionally trying to improve your life. If you're reading it just for the sake of having read it - skip it.
It is filled to the brim with actual steps you can take to improve your life and thought processes. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to better themselves without the usual self-help bullshit.

Woof. This book is like personal development… not even 101. This book could have been a blog post.
It’s catchy buzz phrases and an f bomb every so often to get you fired up, but there’s truly no substance. It’s just words. He quotes a lot of dead white men, no women or people of color.
There’s no personal connection, no research, no recognition that the systems in place effect Black and POC folk differently than white people… skip this noise. There’s nothing here Brené Brown hasn’t already said and better.

Generic
The best part of this book is that it is short.
It is trying to capitalize on the trend of catchy and adult titles that speak to young, hip and aggressive readers. But this book couldn’t be more generic if it was written by high schoolers.
Save your money and time.

I couldn't put the thing down. Bishop only says exactly what needs to be said. There's no fluff, no sugar-coating, no fakeness... And damn, if this wasn't a refreshing read.
One of my favorite lines (that I'm putting on my vision board on my desk at work this upcoming week): "If it succeeds, you can celebrate. If it fails, you can recalibrate."
AWESOME read. Loved every page.

As someone who is constantly in her own head: second-guessing, overthinking, etc., this was a nice reminder that thoughts are powerful, and can be used for good or for ill. Nothing in this book is groundbreaking, but still useful to those who need a little more help on their mental health journey.
It is written with passion and is refreshing short. It do contains the right concepts, but if you ever done self development coaching, it will probably be nothing new for you. Also it lacks authentic sharing of people who had breakthroughs applying those insights, the examples given instead are dry and theoretical and often not relatable. Overall, I liked the book for its brevity and clarity, but I would not recommend it to anyone for whom it is a new material.
3.5 - Good stuff very approachable and conscience. Easily practiced by a just do it, no excuses attitude.
