I like the other books by this author, so I was surprised how hard this was to finish I almost DNF’d but kept pushing through hoping for it to get better. It was slow and hard to listen to. It seems like a set up book for the series, but there wasn’t enough to draw me in to read the next book when it comes out.
-dark fairytales
-fallen gods/fae
-Aladdin/Rapunzel retelling
-“i would burn the world for her”
-but forbidden
By the Fallen, I really don’t know what there is to say! My heart is beating with anxiety just finishing, as per usual with the sisters books, but it was incredible! True to their style, it had me laughing SOOO hard while weaving in this AMAZING story & plot & new world building. Getting a taste of how these fae live their lives was magnificent & the main characters?

A Game of Malice & Greed is a great entry into a new world created by the twisted Sisters. A modern adaptation of the forty thieves. I enjoyed the world building and, as always for these authors, the characters.
The story dragged for a bit, but the ending was great and left me wanting to know what happens next.

This is the Twisted Sister’s first book in their new series that takes place in the land of Osaria, thousands of years after the gods left the fae with no magic. I really think this series is going to be my favorite of all of theirs. It is a loose retelling of Aladdin, the guy finds a magical creature who can grant his every wish trapped in a golden coin and uses it to become a rich count to try to win over the princess. There is also a evil stepmother and tons of action and even angst and unrequited love. I can’t wait for the next one to come out, it’s so good!

A twisted heart, a hollow soul.
A broken warrior, lost gods of old.
A thief of shadows, blessed with light,
A single lie which stole their might.
A princess to win, in a brutal game.
A great empire falling to a monster's claim.
A forbidden love, a curse untold.
The last immortal trapped in a coin of gold.
There is so much to unpack in this book. I took a couple of days to let it settle hoping it would help. It didn’t. I want to start off by saying this one reminds me a lot of the first ZA book. It’s a lot of world building, couple setup, villain setup, and not a lot of plot/story. With that being said by the end of the book I felt invested, and I was a little shook that I didn’t have access to book two yet. One of my biggest gripes with the book was Drake. He reminds me of Eugene/Flynn from Tangled if he was much less PG and more rated R. His confidence/arrogance was grating. I really didn’t start liking him until towards the end with Kyra. He is very vain and has very little redeeming qualities until she comes in the picture.
Cass and Austyn I don’t have much to say on. Cass is broody, and Austyn seems to be his female counterpart in that sense. All four characters don’t get to be with each other until the end of the book which was the best part of the book for me.
If you are expecting spice, this book is a slowwwww burn. And by slow burn I mean I’m hoping for spice in book two.
While this was probably about a 3.3 for me, I do see potential in the series. I look forward to the next book now that the stage has been set, and plan to read it.

Really disappointed to see that this one the way of the last ZA book. I have been a huge huge fan of these authors and have literally read every single book, but it's clear that they have really backed off of their editing of each other's work and aren't taking the time to really decide what the key elements are for the plot which leads to a bunch of superfluous content that really slows down the entire book and makes it unjoyable. If I'm going to read an 800 page book, all of those 800 pages have better be necessary....
