This book was better than the last few in the series. The action was better. Stephanie had some good self reflective moments. There was more Ranger. Good story. I hope the next one is this good.
Better then the last few have been. I like that she actually seems to be getting more competent and taking things seriously, like actually learning how to use the gun even if she doesn't like it. I wish there was more of an over arching story line between the books they all feel very stand alone at this point. I need her to choose which man she is going to be with. Similarly to the show Bones the, will they wont they, can't decide stuff, has gone on way to long. It is no longer satisfying it is just frustrating, and not in a fun way.
Going rogue is the 29th novel in Janet Evanovich’s “Stephanie plum” series. I think i bought it in a sale and was briefly amused by the idea of diving in 29 books deep into a series and that angle isn’t really that interesting because it’s competently written to stand alone. I get the feeling I’m missing out on some running gags like how she keeps destroying her cars (two get wrecked in just this book, I’d love to know how many over all) and the first two thirds of this mystery are about trying to find a main character which I’m sure I’d have missed with the assumed familiarity. Not that the characters treat it with much urgency, their friend vanishes in highly suspicious circumstance and they just sort of get on with their lives and solve the kidnapping in their spare time. Stephanie also having some very light personal drama as she tries to chose between her cop boyfriend or her cop for hire boyfriend. This all helps keep the cosy low-threat tone.
I do enjoy reading crime thrillers for their sense of place too. New Jersey isn’t somewhere I think about very often but feel like I got an introduction to through this book. It seems just lovely.
Lorelei King does a good job on the audio some of her male voices are a bit weird and I think it’s a real shame that she treated the grandmother character like a joke rather than a character being funny. But nothing fatal to the experience.

I loved the Stephanie Plum book. Some of the past few were a little disappointing, but this redeemed all of that. I laughed out, loud multiple times, and having Morelli’s grandmother have a more active part was awesome.
Totally decent way to spend a day. The gangs all here, asking the same questions and doing most of the same things. Not ground breaking but if you’re still reading this series that’s probably not what you’re here for.
Not as funny to me as the last one but there are characters here that remind me of Sally and the Mooner and for that I am grateful. And I enjoyed Grandma Bella having a more major role.
The pacing felt strange to me. Like all main story, then a side story, then big chunk of just Morelli vs Ranger (not literally, that would have been more interesting) then back to the main story. Feels like it was too short so they added some. Or maybe it was an attempt to build suspense that I would have appreciated more if this was my first Plum book.
Fun, quick, easy read.

In the latest installment of Stephanie Plums adventures in bounty hunting, Connie is kidnapped, a coin is missing, and Stephanie blows up a car.
I love these books for the fun and, yes, predictability. Lula is going to wear clothes that are too tight, Grandma Mazur is going to cause a scene, Stephanie is going to blow up a car (probably that belongs to Ranger), and there are going to be some new fun characters introduced. I enjoyed this one a lot. I’ll always get these books right when they come out, but I do wish that the love triangle between Stephanie, Morelli, and Ranger would find a solution. Can’t they all just be polyamorous or something? And I miss some of the old characters - Moon Man, Sally Sweet, and Randy Briggs come to mind.

Stephanie finally starting to come into her own. Great time with favorite characters and maybe even some character development! Fun story.
