Flop ending.

Ik vond het een erg goed verhaal. Thema is erg actueel. Zowel thema als personages zijn goed uitgewerkt.
Alleen ... Het houd in eens op.
Het lijkt of de schrijver nog maar een beperkt aantal woorden had en het toen maar stopte.
Goed begin, slecht einde.
tense medium-paced

Less is more, missed interesting conflict arc in the main character

5 stars for the content, 4 stars for the pacing. i didn't need to hear as much about francis' um, issues, and would have happily dealt with a slightly shorter book. overall, i'm terrified, but in the good way.

First half of this was a great tale of somebody learning to fit into a different but eminently desirable corporate culture. The second half was much more disappointing, requiring suspension of disbelief at a level that I just couldn't muster.

Overall it felt to me that the author couldn't decide whether to make the book a satire or a thriller so tried for both and fell short. Going one way or the other would likely have worked well but unfortunately the author tried to have his cake and eat it with inferior results.

Fast read, starts strong, finishes with a whimper

if I ever write a female character like this I want my friends to take away my computer & hit me over the head with it, thank you

pretty hammy in that it is immediately clear what is happening and what it's leading to, especially when the opposition character is introduced. the horrors of late stage capitalism are huge and glowing neon to everyone but the mc and her coworkers, which is the point! i get it. i was frankly nauseated by her meetings with managers and HR though. too real, too cringe-inducing. good shit i can admit.

overall felt like a very clear modern take on 1984, overly verbose moralizing included

I couldn't finish the book. The misogny that permeates every chapter of the book was so corrosive, I had to put it down after 4 chapters. I felt the same nausea (real) when I tried to read Lolita which I shut after 10 pages.
