I thought it was kinda odd how I never read this book until today, thanks to my lit class, but even if I did read this as a kid, I probably wouldn't thought it was good.
Charlotte is out here being the real MVP while Wilbur just whines the whole time. I know he's under a year old throughout the whole story, but still. Charlotte has the patience and tolerance of a saint not only for putting up with him for so long but for saving his dumbass from being Christmas ham. And all the thanks she gets is her body being left in the trash while Wilbur continues to live his comfy life with her descendants. For being the titular character, Charlotte really got the short end of the stick.
What I do find interesting about this book is how dumb the humans are, with Charlotte's scheme working on them perfectly. I read through some reviews exacerbating how dumb people are for falling for it, but I can kind of see it, especially when people still fall for dumb advertisements today via online overexaggerated hype or stupid internet challenges that come and go.
All in all, there are better kids books out there, but I don't think it's the worst one to sit down with your kid and read. At least Charlotte herself is still an enjoyable character.

I remember enjoying it when I was younger, but it didn't stand out to me as one of my favorites
Hudson is six years old. We like to read books together. Here is his review. "I liked Charlotte's Web a lot, because they lived in the barn. I liked that Charlotte wrote words in her web to make the humans think that Wilbur shouldn't be killed for food."

This was the first novel I ever read all by myself.
This is a timeless tale of friendship and coming of age and I would recommend it to anyone no matter their age.
I read this book in under 24 hours (it is a very short book). But I loved this book as a child, however, I do believe the 2006 live adaptation does execute the story better. I don't know maybe because I have very fond memories of watching it as a child.
I love our characters and we get a larger look into the psyche of Charlotte and Wilbur and even Fern.
I just love this tale of friendship, growing up and never giving up.

Always makes me cry..... Enjoyed listening to this one via audio book in the car with the kids this summer. They loved Wilbur and Charlotte, too. Great meaningful conversations were had.

Gonna write my students review of this book — she is in fourth grade. “I would not Recommend this book because Charlotte should’ve gotten more attention than Wilbur. And the story was boring. I still have it three stars because there were funny parts like when Avery fell on the goose egg”.
