a bit trope-y and melodramatic here and there and could see parts of it coming from far off, but the last quarter of the book is touching.

A very interesting story - a grandmothers and teenage granddaughters stories from a teenage viewpoint. Well written and captivating story with lots of issues raised including death. The challenge of the two meeting with any understanding of each other seems impossible. However a chance find of a diary shows a different woman to the seemingly embittered grandmother.

If you don't like when authors make up personal diaries with full dialogues written on them, maybe this one is not for you.

Fliss and Margot are not very likeable characters... you may not hate them, but for me, I couldn't love them exactly.

The story makes sense, and it's entertaining enough, so in that sense, I think this is a good book.

Beautiful story about grief, growing up and change. So far, I've loved every Juno Dawson book I've read.

Fliss could be a bit childish at times, but she is a teenager so it makes sense. My favourite bits were the ones from the diary!

A wonderful story of love, loss and family that combines contemporary and historical brilliantly. I absolutely loved the parts of the story that followed Margot as a teen evacuee during WWII, and seeing how reading about it affected Fliss in her own life, and her relationship with Margot. Fliss is a very realistic character - annoying at times but still very likeable. There is a small element of a a student-teacher crush, which always makes me a bit wary, but it was handled well. Recommended for YA fans.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK.

Without a doubt one of my favourite books of the year. I hadn't read any of Juno Dawson's books before but all of them have been added to my TBR pile.

I loved reading Margo's diaries and the story was so perfectly told and sweet. I also liked the fact that the relationship between Fliss and Margo wasn't perfect and that there were problems in what was essentially the family unit. Juno doesn't shy away from topics in both Fliss's present and Margo's past. I absolutely adored this book and recommend it to everyone.
