Another knockout from Christine Feehan.

This is a very polarising book in Feehan fan groups. I fall on the love it side.
Alex has the most human reaction to being converted than any other born human lifemate. Add to that, her conversion happened under terrifying circumstances and this diminutive woman has steel in her blood.
Aidan is arrogant, a common Carpathian male trait, confident and weary. Alex comes into his life at the right time and brings along a younger brother. I love that Joshua is written as his age in mannerisms and speech. He’s not a genius, too precocious or too babyish.
Alexandria navigating the many things going on in her world - becoming Carpathian, being unable to care for her brother through the day, feeling like her position as his caregiver is being usurped by Aidans staff and liking said staff makes her a very likeable character.

The story checked all my boxes. A strong female protagonist who won't put up with his medieval sensibilities, a hunky Adonis-type male protagonist she can't resist, a love triangle, humor, some very saucy (and extremely well written) schmexy scenes, and my favorite trope of all - destined mates! I highly recommend this book. It is a must-read.

I'm starting to think the author likes stupid females and male chauvinists

I think this was another successful plot from start to finish. I would have been a little happier if there had been a little more resolution with Alexandria's boss. Aiden and Alexandria were both a little too much for me at times, but I did love the kind of found family aspect in this one a lot. The pov changes for me felt pretty seamless and I felt like I hoped from character to character pretty well

So far my ranking is:

#1: Dark Desire
#2: Dark Gold
#3 Dark Prince

I'm very curious to see how book 4 will go, I've got a lot of anticipation for Gregori's story that has been built up over the past 3 books!

I liked this one, but it is not one of my favourite story, even though I really love Alexandria and her little brother. It is the first story were the family of humans is introduced that will serve different Carpathians as housekeepers or help.

This book is about Aidan Savage and a graphic designer named Alexandria Houton. Alex was kidnapped together with her little brother and nearly turned into a vampiress by a true vampire when Aidan sweeps down in form of a golden eagle to destroy the vampire and unwittingly convert Alex. But Alex can't cope with her new life. Will Aidan find a way to let Alex understand how beautiful life can be?

Nice enough story. It is also the first story that is solely placed in America.

Having read a couple of these by now the plot is feeling familiar; the Carpathian male uncertain if she will accept him but desperate to make her stay, the human woman; defenseless against her attraction to him yet desperate not to give up her freedom. The overly possessive nature of the Carpathian men annoys me slightly, as does the fact that all the women are virgins as the men can't stand the thought that any other man might have touched them. It's not clear whether this same state of virginity is applied to the men. Time for Feehan to develop a new plot.
