“Red String Theory” by Lauren Kung Jesson is a sweet romance based on the Chinese legend where an invisible red thread connects the one person they are destined to meet in their lives. In this book, Rooney and Jack meet one cold day in New York and spend a magical afternoon and evening together. Unfortunately, when Jack returns to California, it is discovered that he had accidentally given her the wrong telephone number. But as fate would have it, they are destined to meet again.
This was an enjoyable read, perfect to cozy up to on a cold winter’s day. Many thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC. This is my first book by Lauren Kung Jesson, but it won’t be my last.

Struggled with this one some. The pace felt slow and I just couldn’t see Jack as the MC. He felt boring. The romance felt rushed and didn’t have much substance. I did really like scenes with Rooney, Jack and the team. One in particular was super fun (although all were good).
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Solid rom-com, a bit above average. I found the regular fate vs. choice discussions/debates between most of the characters in the book to be pretty good, if a little pedantic at times. One nit, for me at least: not only were both the male and female protagonists essentially perfect human beings (not unexpected in a rom-com), but so were all of the other characters. Indeed, there wasn't a bad or even mildly annoying person anywhere to be found. A little too unbelievable to swallow, even in the constructed fairy tale of a rom-com. Still, I enjoyed the book.
This was a really cute romance with a grumpy engineer/sunshiny artist. I really enjoyed the way this book skirted the miscommunication common in romance and how some things came around full circle (sorry to be vague but trying to avoid spoilers). The author did a fantastic job fleshing out the side characters, the bits about the grandfather's romance were some of my favs (I'll never look at sea horses the same way again!). Read this if you were a fan of the movie Serendipity!
