3.5 I don’t know what aspect of Jasmine Guillory they were comparing this to, but there was almost no spark or flame in this entire relationship. I think that’s why it was so hard to connect and like this book- I just didn’t feel the love. It felt like a really good friendship. Jack tried too hard to make it not work and it took too long for him to come around, basically until the epilogue, so for me it was unsatisfying. The good part was that Rooney didn’t let him hold her back and that her mom did the right thing getting that video back. I fully believed the fate and red string aspects, so I loved learning more about that, and I wish I could see Rooney’s unique string art designs. Otherwise, I liked this one even less than Lunar Love, sadly.

ADORABLE!!! this was absolutely adorable. I loved both the main characters and I found their journey of finding love together with their conflicting mindsets on fate and soulmates to be super interesting. Every little thing that came up, showing more and more that they were string mates had me in a puddle!! The grand gesture at the end was everything to me. Loved the Olivia&Bennett cameo as well!!! Just a really cute story I couldn't stop smiling.

Thank you Netgalley, Forever ( Grand Central Publishing ) and Lauren Kung Jessen for this opportunity to read Red String Theory early.

First, after reading this book, Lauren Kung Jessen is an auto- buy author for me and I'm so happy and honored to have been able to read her second book early as well as her first novel, Lunar Love. Like Lunar love, this book has been such a wonderful reading journey for me. Red String Theory exceeded all of my expectations and made me fall in love with Love ( even though I'm already hopeless romantic ). I truly loved being apart of this world.

Now, onto the characters, Rooney and Jack. these two come from completely different worlds but have this understanding of each other that is beautiful. This understanding of thinking about life in different ways, where one goes about thinking about life fully through a fate lens while the other thinks about life scientifically and needs reasoning. They have a day where fate/red string theory seems to bring them back to each other multiple times, almost like serendipity. From that moment on we get to dive more into their connection, their chemistry how they learn to be open-minded about each other's mindsets.

Their connection is quite beautiful and very unexpected, but in the best way possible. Reading about them genuinely gives me butterflies and gives me my own hope in finding my own stringmate in this chaotic world we live in. Their story brings me so much warmth, genuine love, happiness and finding yourself outside of your normal. They make the opposites attract work in such a lovely way and it just makes me so happy.

This story brings to light how it's okay to reach for your goals and let your guard down. You don't always have to follow the method that you're used to, its okay to stray away from it as long as your happy in your decision of doing so. That's something I really took from this book and cherish so much about it.

My heart. My whole heart. This is an instant favorite. I loved the philosophical banter between Jack & Rooney as opposites - engineer vs. artist, predictability vs. adventure, plans vs. fate, and yet how they complimented each other so well. I think it's possible to believe in signs and also want to have control in life, so it was easy to relate to both characters and their dispositions. For a closed door book, I felt intense sparks between these characters as their chemistry was out of this world, pun intended. Plus, Jack rescues a cat named Sprinkles and makes his own ice cream -- swoon.

If you enjoy Serendipity, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, or just believe in signs like seeing 11:11, I really think you'll enjoy Red String Theory. Thank you Netgalley & Forever for the ARC.

I really wanted to love this book because I adored Lunar Love but this was such a miss for me.

It has all the right ingredients to make it a fun romance with a good message of knowing when to let fate do its thing and when you need to step in to make the choices to get you where you want to go. However, it just dragged on and on.

The concept was cute. The characters could have been even more likable but I just couldn’t get attached to them.

I had a great time falling into this unique love story between two passionate nerds. It kept me investing from start to end, but it felt a lot different than a lot of the other romance books I’ve picked up lately. Rooney, the main character, is such a hopeless romantic and I loved how she tied her beliefs about fate into each of her art pieces. She was funny, passionate, and adventurous which made her story so much fun to read. I enjoyed the love interest just as much and how we got to see him grow throughout the story.

This book made me laugh and consider my own thoughts around fate and what I believe. I loved Rooney and Jacks’s different “fate tests” throughout the book and how we actually got to watch them fall in love over time. It was nice compared to so many romance books that can come off feeling like insta-love. Overall loved this story and the characters were adorable!

A cute AAPI version of Serendipity with an artist and a NASA scientist.

I did this partly on audio and partly with a physical book. Both were enjoyable.
