I don’t know how the hell this book is being rated so low.
This is THE BEACH READ for 2022. Well, if you love a dark, twisty tale like I do. Amaya is SICKENED when she discovers on Instagram no less, that her ex-best friend is marrying her ex-boyfriend. There is no way in hell she is letting this wedding happen.
Set in the world of the ultra rich in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this story is the ultimate tale of “What would you do to get what you want?” Told from multiple points of view leading up to wedding, and through investigative statements being taken the day of the wedding after the bride is missing, this story left me reeling.
TW: self harm, abuse

This was kind of a mess. But I didn't hate it. But I didn't love it.
Loved this book so much I think mostly bc I’m reaching the season of adulthood where friend and wedding drama are definitely on my mind.

The only good thing about this book is that it compels you to keep reading in order to find out what the heck is going on. Unreliable narrator.. Unlikable characters everywhere. Everyone is so hateful that it made it almost Impossible to keep going forward. I’ve never had such a hard time to finish a book. It put me in a reading slump. The twists at the end were great but they don’t make up for a whole book of craziness.
This was fantastic, had me excited to pick the book up all the way through. Ending is definitely wild as people say, but I was so excited to have everything come together I didn’t mind.
I think this is the type of book that’s better with a second read since you know what’s coming, which is really rare to say with a mystery/thriller imo

The book started out good, like any other M/Ts I usually read, mysterious like [b:Gone Girl|19288043|Gone Girl|Gillian Flynn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554086139l/19288043._SY75_.jpg|13306276] with unreliable narrator but then it becomes like a whodunit novel a la Sherlock Holmes, complete with police interviews in every chapter. OMG *roll eyes* wouldn't start the book if I know it was this way!
Anyway I just had to know the real reason behind everything so I keep plowing on even though I can't stand some of the aspect. I wonder if the author wrote it this way to exaggerate the Srilankan aspect of it or that's just how she writes? I need to check her other novel to be sure.
The mystery and confusion was magnified in certain scenes and the ending was a bit forced if I may say so but I've finished it at least. So, that's another title addition to my reading list for the year. Glad I tried.
