I really enjoyed the book. So much zombielicious fun!

Though I thought it started out slow I liked it when I got further in the book. All in all a nice read :)

Love. This. Book!! For me it was the kind that you can't put down, staying up late, reading on breaks. And now it's done. Why couldn't it be thousands of pages long? Before I hit the mid point I bought and downloaded the second of the series! Can't wait!!

I enjoyed this book it had some really fun characters. The main character was amazing! I absolutely adored this Alice. She is a sassy and strong, and her best friend is just as strong willed! This book had a fun romance, and of course wonderful mythology surrounding the zombies. Although, this book did not have huge amounts of Alice in Wonderland in it. I would consider it as a normal zombie novel that uses some of the same terms as Alice in Wonderland. Overall though, I definitely recommend this book!
adventurous dark emotional funny mysterious sad tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

alright book 3.5/5

Honestly wish there was such a thing as half stars .

This book is actually a re-read for me. I read it when I was 13 and absolutely adored it.

I’m now 19 and we’ll 6 years later some of the references date the book slightly. It might also just be the fact that I’ve grown up; but the book isn’t as good as I remember.

The book starts out amazing don’t get me wrong, but about halfway the back and forth between coke and Ali, and the way the plot speeds up becomes a bit to much.

The book has an incredible strong start but honestly halfway around when Ali joins the slayers.

I wish her training and the journal had been explored more. I really believe if those aspects have been spread out this would be a 4.5 for me.

Overall for a middle schooler? Great book. For an older audience? Enjoyable thou a bit grating at some points.

I feel misled. Her parrallels to Alice are a STRETCH in a big way. In fact, it almost makes me want to give this book only 2 stars. But on the other hand...I did finish the thing in three days. So clearly, it had something.

If I ignore the stupid chapter titles and grasps for Alice connections, the story was interesting.

Things that bothered me (and I've never read any of her other stuff, so maybe this is just her) include her very unsubtle views on swearing (you could just not use the words...no need to tell your reader that you are deliberately not using them) that conflicts with how her descriptions of the girls' attire are somewhat whoreish. Also, the whole school situation seems just, I hate to say implausible in a book about zombies, but that's what it was.

Cole seems to fall into an "Edward" category of boyfriend and Ali sometimes borders on "Bella" tendancies. But I still like them okay. I like the rest of Cole's gang more. And I love Kat. So overall the characterizations are good.

By the time the next one comes out, maybe I will have forgotten how much the non-Alice thing bugged me and I'll enjoy it for a lovely little zombie tale. Ha!

An ihrem 16.

Amazing!!!

Alice Bell is just an ordinary girl. Well, she has a dad that's kind of crazy and they're not allowed to leave the house after dark but other than that, totally normal. Until one night when everything changes and her world tilts upside down. She realizes that her dad may not have been crazy after all. She starts seeing things in the dark and she keeps seeing a perfectly shaped rabbit cloud in the sky...

I really enjoyed this one! At first it started off a little slow for me -- for the first 100 pages it kind of skirts around what's really going on and since we know that it's zombies I just wanted things to start happening. However, then it does and it's non stop action! I loved it! The concept of these zombies is also really original and interesting! Definitely a new spin on zombies!

With these zombies comes a group of zombie slayers. One of them is Cole Holland -- resident bad boy, complete with tattoos, piercings and war wounds from zombie skirmishes. His violet eyes are definitely something I won't soon forget!! He just gives off that aura of hey-I-may-look-like-trouble-but-you-can't-resist-me! He can kill zombies like nobody's business! And it's super attractive for a guy to be able to take care of himself in a zombie fight AND look out for you, too. Just saying. (Rare to find that nowadays...ha!)

Another favorite of mine is Alice's friend Kat. She's a little quirky and out there but totally sounds like someone I'd love to hang out with. She's there for Alice and is an awesome friend to her -- being there for her through her family's deaths and also transition to a brand new school. Plus, she's hilarious.

One thing I have to point out is that this isn't a retelling of the Alice in Wonderland story. The name of the book may suggest otherwise but the only big references to Alice in Wonderland are just the title, chapter titles and appearance of a white fluffy rabbit cloud (I look for this now in the sky!! You never know what's out there!!) Alice kind of falls into a different world in the sense of finding out about a whole new zombie world but don't read this expecting a retelling. However, you should still read this because it was fantastic! I'm really excited to see what happens next and also to read more Cole in the next book, Through the Zombie Glass!

Even if you aren't a fan of zombies, check it out! It has a super unique zombie plot, action, and swoon! It's starts out a little slower but then you won't be able to put it down!
