To sum up the way I feel about this book, I was expecting so much more going into it but the book just didn't deliver. I was expecting something that would have me hooked, wanting to figure out who the murderer was with the stakes up high but that wasn't the case at all and whilst it was terrible, it wasn't good. The fact that it was more academically focused made me think that it was going to be much more interesting than it actually ended up being.

I guessed who it was pretty early on since it was pretty obvious in my opinion. It felt like the author was trying everything to get the reader to believe that the murderer wasn't who it ended up being so it made it quite easy to guess. Although there are still things that are unclear in my head and things that just don't match up.

Also the motive was extremely absurd. I probably would have liked it more if it had been a different motive because I genuinely laughed out loud as soon as it was revealed, it was quite pathetic honestly and didn't feel at all realistic. Who on earth would kill someone for that reason in real life?

All in all, this isn't the worst book out there and to pass the time, sure, it wasn't too bad. It nearly got three stars but I just felt like I didn't enjoy it enough. There are other mystery books similar to this one that I would much rather recommend.

Anything that uses an elite boarding school setting for a thriller has instantly got my attention – and I really don’t think that this disappointed. It was somewhat obvious in parts, but equally one of the motives was really interesting and very unexpected! I liked seeing the ways that elitism and prestige played out. It also gave me a lot to think about regarding class in a lot of unexpected ways!

Will definitely note – it is full of the drama that only YA can provide, so if that’s not your thing, you have been warned!

Whoa, I read this so fast because Alexa had me hooked!! Such a satisfying mystery that unraveled perfectly. I kept second guessing myself up until the end. LOVE the writing style and can't wait to read more thrillers by Alexa!

3.75 rounded up. Read if you like A Good Girls Guide to Murder - super fast read! not as shocking / as big of a twist but I loved the setting (boarding school).
