š˜æš™žš™§š™©š™® š˜¾š™Ŗš™§š™«š™š by Meagan Brandy is exactly what I want in a slow-burn romance. This book truly has it all—friends to lovers, forced proximity, spicy forbidden romance, and plenty of angst that kept me hooked from start to finish! Tobias begins as the typical cocky, self-centered jock we love to hate, but he transforms into a character with much more depth than you'd expect. Swoon-worthy book boyfriend material, for sure. Meyer is the sweet, hardworking heroine juggling everything to support her adorable baby girl. Their journey from friends to something deeper is filled with tension, emotion, and undeniable chemistry. The banter between them is on point! A few unexpected plot twists and turns caught me off guard and elevated the story to a whole new level. The pacing is perfectly executed—a slow burn that builds with tension, and when it all finally comes together? Pure perfection. The beautifully written emotions felt authentic, making me root for these two even more. If you love baseball romance full of heart, tension, and unforgettable chemistry (with major twists and plenty of angst), š˜æš™žš™§š™©š™® š˜¾š™Ŗš™§š™«š™š is a must-read!

I fell in love with these two. Tobias is a type of character I really do love. He's someone who has been stereotype as a bad boy, but at his heart, he's a good man. Meyer is an amazing young woman. She's juggling so many balls in the air, it's a wonder that she even manages to survive it all. Man did I root for her HARD! Given the stress Tobias is adding to her life, it's a shock she doesn't kill him at first. The interaction between the two of them had me coming back for more to see what would happen next. Even though I guessed at a plot point early on, I couldn't have known the path it would take to get there, and it didn't detract from my enjoyment in any way. These two left me swooning!

A home run!

I don’t think Meagan could write any book I wouldn’t love. She has a way of making these simple characters so much more than what we see on the outside. Your first opinions are bound to change halfway through the book and you connect so much with them. This book is no different. When I read the blurb I was interested, but it didn’t pull me in like her others. I waited a bit to read and I wished I would have picked it up sooner.

Meyer is a tutor for the athletics department at her university. She is paired with Tobias, the school’s star pitcher and well known playboy. Meyer doesn’t want to tutor him but is given no choice by her boss who also happens to be the baseball coach. Their start is a bit awkward. Meyer doesn’t make it easy for Tobias like others have in the past. She makes him work for his grades. All Tobias cares about is his baseball career and he puts his heart and soul into the game. After weeks of tutoring sessions they start to feel things for each other. But there are other obstacles in their way.

I liked that this was a slow burn and they didn’t just rush into things. We see the build up and how their feelings change for each other. We get to see Tobias' true self and not just what the papers and news shows. He is such a kind, caring person. He doesn’t judge Meyer for her life and becomes a person she can rely on. I think this is one of the few books I enjoyed the hero more than the heroine. Meyer is a great character too. She is struggling but you wouldn’t know it on the outside. She takes her school work and job seriously. She will do anything for those she loves. Another thing I liked about this book is it is more male pov than the fmc. I love getting inside the guy’s head and Tobias didn’t disappoint. The twist threw me off. The whole book I thought I knew what the revelation would be and it was smashed to pieces. I did not see that coming. It ended with a hint at another book in the same universe so I’ll be keeping my eyes open for that one.

Usually with an enemies to lovers dual POV the MMC’s POV is what makes you love them, but I hated the MMC for the first 20% of the book. I also thought I knew what the twist was going to be, but I was wrong. Although I liked that it wasn’t predictable I preferred my version.

I must confess, I don’t like baseball. It’s my dad’s favorite sport and I attended more than a few games as a kid. B.O.R.I.N.G. Thus, you can see how I’d be hesitant about reading a baseball romance. Meagan Brandy and Tobias Cruz may have convinced me to give baseball a second chance.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to fully put into words how much I loved Dirty Curve. I expected an easy and light story about a tutor and a jock, but instead we got so much more. Both Tobias and Meyer have hidden depths.

Dirty Curve was an emotional roller coaster with plenty of secrets and twists. Meagan Brandy did a phenomenal job, with both the strength of the writing and the emotions I felt while reading. Swoonworthy and hot, Dirty Curve is one of my best reads of 2021.
