Ms. Kennedy tortured us with the untapped sexual chemistry in her previous novel, Addicted. Well, if you thought the tease in Addicted was rough, wait until you experience the molten lava that it becomes in Ruled.

I can honestly say that this series is smoking hot. If my kindle were able to read the words it would be cherry red with a blush and smoke pouring out of it. Even I was blushing like a school girl! Its hot and heavy. In a society where there are no reservations about gender and numbers in an encounter, there are plenty of hot scenes to entertain the masses. Threesomes are explored based on participants desires- um, yeah, flipping hot!

Don't get me wrong, though these books ooze sex, sexual chemistry, and horniness the story is actually a pretty awesome dystopian post apocalyptic world. Striving for basic freedoms, the outlaws are trying to bring down an oppressive government- sound familiar? It may but it has never been dished out with such wild and freeing abandon.

If you hurry you can snag book one while its still on sale. I highly recommend starting with Claimed. I jumped into the series with Addicted and found myself slightly lost. For background and character introductions I would suggest starting at the beginning. But if you happen to start with any of them you will catch up quick enough.

I want to leak some of the story, but I'm not that kind of girl. So do us both a favor, buy it, read it, and then come chat with me because I need to vent with someone! But first I'm going to take a cold shower- for two reasons: 1. Connor doesn't like when we waste the hot water 2. Its a seriously HAWT story. Makes me wish i were living in their world- well, just a little.

This hurts. I love this series and have been eagerly awaiting this book but this just didn't work me. Reese drove me crazy for the entire book. I expected her to tough, strong and fearless what I got instead was someone who was wishy washy, full of self doubt and who couldn't make a single decision. The ending felt rushed and I couldn't fathom why Rylan was even in love with her. There were about a hundred little things that drove me crazy that I'll save you from having to listen to. I will still read the next book in the series and I did enjoy the plot that revolved around the overall arc of the series.

Each book in this series continually outdoes the prior. The action and scorching hotness battle to show themselves the clear winner when they tie every time. In RULED, we finally get to delve into Reese; the badass, tough woman that runs Foxworth and rips the balls off of any who challenge her.

We’ve been watching the rising sexual tension between Reese and Rylan for awhile now, and it doesn’t disappoint when we finally get to experience it first hand. Add in Reese’s quiet right-hand man Sloan, and there’s bevy of emotion. The turmoil and tension between the three (as well as between each other as pairs) was deliciously sexy in every possible way. We’ve yet to get to know Sloan and his relationship with Reese, and I really loved their bond and how that affected Rylan, both physically and emotionally. While it may be the hottest in the series, it definitely didn’t disappoint on the Outlaw front. The outlaws are slowly but surely starting their uprising and, man, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Kennedy manages to capture everything needed in a great novel: love, passion, inner turmoil, and action. Both sides, romance and action, moved forward simultaneously in perfect fashion creating a well-rounded and unputdownable book. RULED went to places I didn’t even see coming and I loved every moment of it. The only bad thing is now I have to wait for the next book to see where the story takes us as well as which love story we get next. Highly recommend this series to those who love romance stories with a side of dystopic action.

4.5 stars - My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2016/10/review-ruled-by-elle-kennedy.html

Elle Kennedy’s Outlaws series is raw, edgy, and seriously hot. In the increasingly dangerous world of the outlaws, the tension is high, passions run hot, and – in Ruled – three people who face death on a daily basis will have to be brave enough to risk their hearts for a chance at happiness in a world on the brink of war.

Reese is the queen of the outlaws; a strong, brave woman with a generous heart and a thirst for vengeance. She’s out to destroy the Global Council and their Enforcers who keep people under strict control. Anyone who lives outside their rule is an outlaw, and Reese will give everything she has to keep the men, women, and children under her protection free. But the burden she carries as a leader and the weight of the ghosts of her past are slowly crushing her. She’s increasingly tense and worries that the wildness in her will make her lose control, putting everyone at risk. I loved Reese for her incredible strength and quiet vulnerability. She’s a powerful, flawed heroine with a loving heart and invisible scars. It’s easy to root for her, even when she makes mistakes, because she’s such a well-drawn heroine, one who deserves to find happiness with the two men who would stand by her side if she would let them.

And speaking of those two men… Ms. Kennedy writes the best dirty-talking alphas around it’s double the fun in Ruled. Sloan is quiet and serious; Reese’s rock and right-hand man. He’s also head-over-heels in love with her and neither are willing to risk their friendship or dredge up the ghosts of the past by giving into their desire. It takes Rylan to push them both over the edge. Rylan is a cocky risk-taker who can always crack a joke, but to dismiss him as shallow would be a mistake. I’ve been waiting to see Rylan find someone who sees him more than a good friend with incredible skills in the bedroom and he finds not one, but two people to appreciate him for all that he is. As a trio Reese, Sloan, and Rylan are unstoppable. They strengthen one another because they know they can be vulnerable behind closed doors. Each of them learns to lean on the other and even though it’s a rocky road to happily ever after, their growing love for each other makes every bump in the road worth it. Of course, it also doesn’t hurt that their chemistry is out-of-this-world erotic – be sure you prepare yourself for a filthy good time ;-)

Romance aside, I loved getting to delve deeper into the world of the Outlaws. It’d be a spoiler to talk too much about the developments that take place in the book, so I’ll leave it by saying that the outlaws’ burgeoning revolution continues to develop in exciting ways. I can’t wait to see what happens next and there are a couple of characters whose stories I am practically salivating for. The Outlaws series is insanely addictive and I finished Ruled both satisfied and hungry for more of this dark, erotic, dystopian world.
