Probably more like 3.5 stars. Not a bad book, but it definitely had some hang ups. Overall I’d say give it a try if you like a good book with some spice.
Just a bit too predictable for my liking! It was cute but there wasn't much to the story and it seemed to drag on at times. Also, Sydney's character seemed like someone in high school, not on the verge of graduating college.
Sydney: Good girl to the max. She has low self esteem after being called 'frigid' and thinks no one can like her since she's so boring and bland. She's in love with Kyler and it's getting harder and harder to have to see him with other girls all the time..
Kyler: Hot jock. Player. He has always been there for Sydney and thinks so highly of her that he believes no one is good enough for her. He doesn't believe she could ever like him since she is just too good (he's the sweetest!)
"I hadn't met one guy who was good enough for her, and especially not me." -K
Plot: The two MCs are trapped at house when they go to a ski-resort but there is a bad snow storm. They were supposed to go with their other friends as well, but the others couldn't make it because of the weather so they are alone. And totally in love with each other. Ooooh I wonder what will happen now!!
"She was my Syd, but never in that way. And there was no way she could be looking at me with those damn baby blue eyes of hers filled with want." -K
POV: Alternates between Sydney and Kyler.
I loved being able to get in Kyler's head and read what he was thinking.
Loved the slow-burn in this book. It was so clear that they really knew and understood each other as best friends and were there for each other for such a long time.
I didn't like that Sydney was so quick to jump to conclusions and she was always so quick to place the blame on anyone (even herself) immediately. She never took the time to listen to the other person's side or actually communicate until it was all blown out of proportion.
"You're thinking something. You're thinking something really important. If you're pissed at me because of last night, you can tell me instead of trying to protect my feelings. I'll understand." -K
It was also heart breaking to read the parts when Kyler was with other girls and Sydney had to see that because you could tell it was breaking her heart.
And OMG the scene in the sunroom I was like NOOO stop Sydney you're so dumb!
"You...you deserve better than this, baby. Dammit, you deserve better than this." -K
Overall I really liked this book, the plot was a little basic but the way the story is written is actually wonderful and it all flows together well. I recommend reading during the winter with a hot chocolate in hand because these two will warm your heart.

Nice, J. Lynn. Real nice.

Best friends since childhood who are secretly in love with each other stuck in a snowed in cabin for a few days? What could go wrong?
this was one fun to read! and it was a good book, i'm just so over the man-whore guy! perhaps i've been reading to many of these types of books lately, but seriously.... i know there are hot guys out there who are not man whores! i want to read about them sometimes too!
Full disclosure: I LOVE anything that J. Lynn writes!!
I love that she wrote this realistic love story with characters that aren't completely broken by something tragic in their past. She manages to write man-whore characters that I cannot help but fall in love with a little bit, despite that exact fault. Kyler is well....
"Kyler...yeah, he put that 'oo' in swoon."
"I finally got it. Hell. I got it in that moment what had been so elusive to me the entire time. Sex, mattered--oh, holy shit, it mattered--when it was with a person who meant something."
Sydney was a bit insecure but honestly given their past history who wouldn't be?
"I was Kyler's best friend. And because of that, he would never love me the way I loved him."
Some of the lines in this book made me giggle and I love it when a couple are both hot and funny together.
"How much snow are they calling for?" "Somewhere between a lot and Holy Fuck!"
"The whole thing was about ten levels of awkward and a basement full of someone-kill-me-now."
I am also a fan of a book set in the winter, released in July!
Overall I would say that while this isn't a book that will haunt me for days or weeks it will be a book I will return to often just to get the warm fuzzies.

Did I just read this in 2 hours?
um, YEAH
Should I have done my psychology homework?
UM, YEAH
(ew I have homework sos)
This book contains scenes that may be triggering to some people (attempted rape, stalking) Please be advised.
This book is advertised as a cute rom-com and, for the general story, it is. However, the blurb for the story just glosses over the stalking aspect that is a majority of the book. It felt less like a Christmas Hallmark movie and more of a Lifetime original movie.

errrr... I guess I'm gonna go back to reading Orwell after that. My brain needs to grow back some brain cells.
