TRIGGER WARNING: violence, attempted murder(?), vague references to rape.

J Lynn is back with another hot hot hot romance. This one, though, is full of twists and turns and many unexpected places.

Let’s start with the characters:
Sydney is such a typical smart college girl. She is good in school, focused on her work, has only had one or two boys in the past, doesn’t drink much, really embodies the “teacher’s pet” energy. She is super relatable but also very generic.

Kyler is a playboy if I have ever seen one. As the book describes him, his pants are a revolving door. He is Sydney’s best friend, but any casual reader can tell he’s got the hots for her from page one. Scaring off other boys? Watching out for her drinks? His pet name for her is baby, for crying out loud!

Together these two were very cute but the steps it took to get together was rough. Literally everyone but them could tell that they were in love. No matter how close you are, no one calls there best friend baby in such a seductive way and doesn’t mean it. Once they got together, I was so happy with their relationship, but getting there was rough. In typical J. Lynn fashion, though, their steamy scenes were well worth waiting for.

Now to the things I’m conflicted about. The violence in this book seemed a little bit misplaced. A revenge plot? It was easy to tell really early on what was happening there. But instead of just being a steamy romance, our two leads were shot at, vandalized, what read as an attempted rape, and implied abuse. It was a bit much. It was handlers ok, but was also a little hard to read at points.

I also am very conflicted about the book’s title. I like the play on the weather and all and get that the book took place at a ski lodge, but early on, Sydney admits that after her first ever encounter with sex, her partner described her as frigid. I just was slightly off put by this connection. I get where it was coming from, but why?

Overall, I wouldn’t jump to recommend this book as an introduction to this author, but would definitely recommend it to someone already familiar with some of her other works. I would also definitely pick it up again. It handles some sensitive topics, but never made me feel uncomfortable enough to stop reading. I will definitely be reading the sequel, Scorched, but will go in a bit more educated and aware of the potential topics.

Jennifer has done it again! Every time I think she can't write anything hotter, she has to go and prove me wrong.

Frigid is hot and steamy and absolutely beautiful! I was hooked from the very first page and ignored life as much as I could because I just couldn't put it down.

If you are looking for a fresh and sexy read, then I highly recommend reading Frigid. You can't go wrong with this one!

Uff is das süß 😍

It's that age old story of two best friends, being in love but neither one of them willing to cross that line and risk everything by confessing their feelings. That is, until Sydney's lust for Kyler overwhelms her and spills out at every chance. Snowed in the cabin, Syd shares some of her feelings for him but chickens out when it comes to confess all causing things to go from bad to worse. Plus they are being stalked and threatened.

I enjoyed this story. Syd's bumbling professions of interest were hilarious. And regardless of Kyler being a big ol' stupid manwhore, I found him quite endearing. Plus I find it to be such a romantic notion, to fall in love with your best friend. To know that person you love better then anyone. To never have a time when you were together in one way or another.

Frigid is the first book in the Frigid series and this was just a wonderful way to start off a new series. Oh my gosh this book was just so hot. I was totally captivated by everything that was taking place and I just couldn't help but fall in love with Sydney and Kyler. I just couldn’t get enough of them or this amazing story. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

J.L.A. does an excellent job of making a reader feel and understand what the characters are feeling. The fears and insecurities both are feeling are realistic. The events that happen make sense and steam scenes are steamy. This is one that I will be reading again. Next book Scorched.

I was in the mood for a light romance and I am a huge fan of the author’s other contemporary romance, Wait for You. Frigid definitely didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it and it suited my mood perfectly. Honestly, there were snow flurries the other day and I just wanted to cozy up with a contemporary romance and this cover jumped out at me. It was perfect!

The conflict was interesting because Sydney and Kyler were friends and both of them wanted more and thought the other didn’t for completely different reasons. Sydney and Kyler found themselves snowed in at a ski resort, which was great because it forced the two of them together. I also enjoyed the mysterious aspect of the novel because someone was obviously sabotaging the cabin during the storm.

Frigid was a light, steamy read and I definitely recommend it to fans of the author’s other contemporary novels. I was completely in the mood for a book like this and I devoured it in no time. I wish I would have read it sooner, but I think the colder weather made me appreciate the whole snowed-in plot scenario a bit more.
