Loved the plot development and most of the weaving together of various myths. I felt quite touched by the book in the end.
However...
Dialogue was very immature and difficult to believe; the main character seemed more like an angsty teen than an ancient witch.

This is like Madeline Miller’s Circe but make it Norse. I think prior knowledge about Norse mythology makes the book more fun, then you can see all the creative ways the author incorporated it. I think the second relationship the protagonist had could have been drawn out better and maybe it could have been hinted at more in earlier chapters. This book was good though, it was compelling, even though the lack of chapter headings bothered me.
Because I do not know norse mythology besides a few names, this felt (almost) completely new.
From beginning to end, I was entertained and just regret a bit of how some characters ended (mainly Fenrir and Jörmungandr) but I get why it had to happen.

The ending was heartbreaking and beautiful. I loved how it tied back to the beginning. This is the first time I have read a book that has actually made me cry. It continued to have momentum as the story went on. And you know how it's going to end. But, not exactly how it's going to end. I loved how the author kept certain points a secret so when those moments arised it was surprise to the reader. I wish I could forget this book so I could read it again.

I'm really fond of the Norse myths and this retelling presented such an interesting perspective. It touches on many of the classic Norse tales that I'm familiar with, but the protagonist is one that is often overlooked, and the author was able to believably develop the characters where the original myths are quite sparse due to the minimal existing records. The facts of the myths are so incredibly outlandish in nature, but presented in such a way to be perfectly reasonable in universe. Suspension of disbelief is required, but it's a myth, so that's a given.
I felt like this book was able to make the circular nature of Ragnarok and time in general feel comprehensible, satisfying, and oddly hopeful.
